Actual mammals were millions of years in the future.

This is really good grounds, though, for disposing of the folly of distinguishing between whales and mice, humans and possums, horses and bats. I guess. And denouncing the idea of invasive (mammalian) species as flawed. Rabbits in Australia a bad thing? Pure speciesism.
