Just now. She had a wee bit extra at the end of her first segment. Something she said she saw on Page 42 of the latest Justice Department paperwork - that asserts, as she put it, that "if Mueller goes 'poof' (removed, fired, no longer part of things), the investigation WILL still go on without him. Because Page 42 includes a statement that says the assistant special counsel or prosecutor (not sure of the wording here) was highly experienced and credible, and would and could continue the investigation.
I don't have all the language down here and I'm no legal expert. But that's the conclusion she said she draws from reading the paperwork, and added it struck her as being something significant.
Last minute or so of her first segment.

(11,100 posts)Federal prosecutors work for the DoJ. That's why we need the Special Counsel.

(7,522 posts)She mentioned Andrew Weismann as the likely one who would take it over. He is almost as respected as Mueller, even if he is with the DOJ. That language is in there to make it clear the case will go forward, even without Mueller.
Specifically Senior asst special counsel in charge of this prosecution is a long time, career prosecutor with the internal authority to conduct this prosecution, separate and aside from his role in the special counsels office.

(81,321 posts)But I wasn't expecting this, and once she started in on it, I was transfixed (when I wasn't dancing and fist-pumping across our bedroom, that is). Too busy becoming thrilled and relieved and exultant to go find my usual notepad and pen.

(17,276 posts)That's why there is no point in Trump firing him. He's got everybody around him up to speed and every document printed out in multiple copies and stored in secure locations!

(205,495 posts)He has a whole team of experienced and veteran investigators/prosecutors/experts working with him. How does Trump not know that?? Can't someone on his dwindling "team" tell him?

(58,785 posts)is a lifelong pattern. And he's always been able to use the media; maybe they laughed at him, but he got from them the attention he wanted--and eventually election to the presidency.
These days his world's turned upside down, and he's seemingly throwing himself at the walls closing in on him, determined to find a place he knows must be there where he can break through. He's always won through before, to his mind.
Have you noticed the difference between pictures now and when he was running and elected, though? Caged pumpkin with the nuclear codes.

(205,495 posts)It's possible that they have no clue, either. It rally does boggle the mind that he's even still standing - and it just gets worse every day! I mean, he couldn't remember the name of The White House! Even grade school kids know about that! These are scary times...

(58,785 posts)And he chooses thugs for attorneys to frighten away people he owes money to, handle NDAs for women, and look for tax dodges. They're like a street gang going up against Mueller's special forces.

(205,495 posts)He's always had trouble thinking of words and misspeaks all the time, which is concerning enough for the supposed "leader of the free world," but this was just his latest gaffe. And I think you're right, he believes his position makes him above the law. How can he not remember Watergate?? His lack of knowledge about history and what were current events in his lifetime totally defies belief!

(58,785 posts)Thanks for the clip. "And we keep it in tip-top shape. We call it sometimes tippy-top shape,...
When he moved in, he called it a dump, apparently an appalling lack of gilt
Frankly, I didn't see him searching for words on this clip, where he instead talks up the economy to an audience of parents and children. Doesn't matter. He routinely outperforms any of the characters in movies about idiots elected to leadership of nations.

(205,495 posts)But that's nothing compared to to what he's done to our reputation in the world and our relationships with allies that have endured for a few centuries. And then there's the effects his disastrous policies are going to have on the American people! A POTUS is supposed to make life better for people, but everything he does seems to undermine any progress we've made - and is going to take decades to reverse, if it's not already too late.

(297,317 posts)I hope Mueller stays.. but, if he doesn't what's to keep the Russian mole from firing the Assistant Special Counsel?
I hate being a downer..
