Re: Trump's tax returns. I'm curious about what information Mueller could get from them...

as Trump surely isn't going to claim crooked transactions or money laundering on his income/expenses. He could probably get by with donations that he never actually completed unless they check them out. I'm just curious what information they could derive from those forms.

Am I wrong In that he has hundreds of companies that were probably used for money laundering and/or paying off women for his jollies.

I could see him claiming thousands of dollars not paid to contractors and/or lawyers.

Just curious.

1. A few money leads.....

his golf course financing for one. No reputable financial institution in the U.S. would lend him money because of his myriad bankruptcies, so where exactly did he get the money for financing? We know for sure they were investigating Deutsche Bank, but were there others, and what country of origin (and which oligarchs are connected with them) are involved?

Little Donnie Trump's kids boasted of their connection to Russian money. I'm sure there are plenty of questions about that.

I'm certainly no expert, but Little Donnie Trump has always thumbed his nose at the law. I'm sure there are many more questions investigators are delving into. Little Donnie is a snake, so anyone taking a good, hard look at his finances are probably going to find at least a few leads into some Trump financial dumbfuckery.

2. Turns out Trump has more business deals in India

than anywhere else. Same business "philosophy," so not doubt many, many questions generated.

I like one of The Donald's lesser known but entirely revealing quotes:

"That 1977 law (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) prohibits US business and their partners from bribing or influencing foreign officials to help advance a business deal.

In 2012, Trump told CNBC that it was "things like this that cause us to not be able to lead the world." "For this country to prosecute because something took place in India is outrageous," he said."

Let's hope we never have a bigger proof of the weakness of democracy than this man.

Donnie Jr. wore a "deplorable" pin to the WH easter egg roll. It should have said, "Deplorable, Despicable, Depraved."

3. Feasibility of finding something on Trump's tax returns:

Being cynical, I wonder how much can really be revealed. Trump has demonstrated what a prolific, inveterate, and regular liar he is and I can't help but wonder how much he would admit on a tax return whether it be amounts or occurrences of business at all.

My point: Trump has lied before and my guess is that he would lie to the IRS as well. The real reason he doesn't want to reveal his returns is because there's enough to alert the IRS that there's a case to prosecute.

Guys like him are audited as a matter of course almost every year anyway, if there was anything groundbreaking the IRS would have pounced by now. Even years they don’t get fully audited they get looked at hard.

If there was anything for the IRS to find that’s enough to prosecute on, they would have by now most likely.

Honestly, I think the only reason he doesn’t release is that they show the one thing he really, really doesn’t want the world to see- that he isn’t as rich as he makes himself out to be.

7. That's My #1 Reason As Well

Showing the taxes would reveal just how high the leverage is, based upon loan payment interest deductions.

The numbers are likely so high that it would show that the claimed net worth, is probably more like gross present value and the actual net worth is a fraction of that. Would kind of ruin the brand, wouldn't it?

13. I read the other day where Jared is wealthier than The Donald.

I had the impression they were both in hot water because their wealth was on paper. The Donald wouldn't be able to watch Jared pass him by, financially. That would be like stepping on his spleen. Splat!

Too much leverage there, too. The business model is nearly identical. They may have a lot of stashed cash somewhere, but the net worth is inflated due to the same causes.

10. Do you honestly think the IRS wouldnt catch that in 10 yeas?
Wed Apr 4, 2018, 08:44 AM

They are really good at catching that kind of stuff.

I think his refusal to release them has led people to think there is a lot more there or that can be learned from them than there actually is.

12. Thanks everyone for your suggestions of what could/wouldn't be on Trump's tax return.
Wed Apr 4, 2018, 10:25 AM

I've always thought that when a person/business has so many lawyers working on their taxes, they aren't being paid to be truthful to the IRS. I would imagine many of the loopholes that have been stuck in the procedures require lawyers to figure them out. He probably makes up his own rules if the amount he pays becomes too much. If he pays a lot, I would think he'd want to brag about it. That is what feeds his ego...hugely, bigly, incredible.

Since he would just be sending his taxes in for the year, they wouldn't be auditing them yet. His so-called audit is a fantasy and the question should be brought up again by the media. Show us your tax returns.
