In his late 70s, retired high school math teacher, sitting in his recliner watching Fox News and getting all worked up over Obama. Then he'd fire off some terrible emails to me about how bad everything is and how the country was going to be ruined, etc. If he were still alive today he'd be a Trumpie with a MAGA hat.

He was suffering from something. If not dementia, he was certainly depressed and expressed it through anger, like a lot of men do.

I've heard it all before. Except not coming from the Oval Office.

IOW it hears what it wants to hear. We are subjective beings. We want to think that we take the facts and arrive at conclusions but this just isn't true. Even our senses are an illusion because processing information takes an extraordinary amount of energy. We can actually take in and process only about a megapixel, visually. That's not much. Our brains make things up to give us the illusion of seeing more.

He was your dad. I'm sorry for your loss; I just lost mine last week. You might be a little more generous and visualize him seeing the light? After all it's in your own brain. Right?

I mean that as a friendly suggestion.

and something more positive to do, he'd have been happier in those last years. Fox TV and RW radio are poisonous. There were other things going on, too, of course--his declining health, for one. As far as how he spoke to me, personally, I've forgiven it because I can see the whole picture of his life and why he talked the way he did.

He died in September, 2010 at the age of 82. My daughter likes to believe that now, he does know.

Condolences for your loss.

I'm not trying to be elitist or derisive, but we DO need to keep in mind that a LOT of his supporters (though not all) share his very limited vocabulary, understanding, and disdain for self-education.

My husband and I have this conversation all the time, how much of drumpfs constant lies are knowingly self-serving or pure meanness and how much is ignorance or dementia. What he was saying yesterday about DACA and Amazon is a great example. I think Robinson got it exactly right.

So many of his behaviors are what I saw in my mother, leading up to her diagnosis with Dementia/Alzheimer's. No one will ever convince me he's not in a dangerous decline.

was supposedly very easy to pass and only covers the basics.

No way Trump is 6'3", though. Probably close to 6'0" or maybe 6'1"

This is Trump next to fellow 6'3" person Alex Rodriguez.

His presentation of his "findings" was, to say the least, transparently obsequious. I've worked in the realm of medicine for most of my life. No physician talks like that without incentive.

And, yes, what he reported was utter nonsense. It's sad to realize that his ambitions far outweigh his ethics. After my personal experiences, my opinion of Navy medicine was already low enough. Shockingly, it has become monumentally lower.

So deserving of having people look down on him. The thing he can’t stand.

trump sees himself as god’s gift to the world in his public persona. Really, inside he is a sniveling coward with the self esteem of a gnat.

Of early Dementia. He repeats what he says, dwells on one subject. Example- crooked Hillary, fake news.

He used both yesterday. The people around him are controlling him as much as they can, and covering for him.

It was as if he did not know where he was. Just like a poll parrot he said his rote. Talking to those little ones around him. They had puzzled expressions on their faces. Had no idea what he was talking about. He is really not normal and getting worse each day.

Trump did the same thing with his PR the other day. Went off on Crooked Hillary and Fake News!

Never mind that at the time, those going after Clinton were so much worse--Dennis Hastert with his history of raping boys and Newt Gingrich dumping his wife while she was in the hospital for cancer surgery, so he could run off with his mistress, etc. Dems have let them get away with it. It all goes back to messaging and, sadly, Republicans generally do it so much more effectively than Democrats.
