Written Statement buried on p. 42 -No matter what happens to Mueller-the Investigation Will Continue

This is huge

A written statement buried on page 42 of the Special Counsel’s filing in the Manafort case that no matter what happens to #Mueller, whether he is fired or just goes poof into the ether, the investigation WILL continue by the Assistant Special Counsel, regardless.

and then there is THIS:

So @realDonaldTrump is a subject but not a target. This is just semantics folks. A subject means he’s currently under investigation. A target means the prosecution is currently seeking an indictment. You never want to be a subject of a criminal investigation. /1

It essentially means that the prosecution is building a case against you and the time period between being a ‘subject’ and ‘target’ can be moments. Trump is done. It’s up to Mueller when he wants to deconstruct this administration. /end

Are you referring to conviction/removal following impeachment? That would take 67 Senators (2/3's).

I think we can count on Flake, Corker, and possibly Snowe. Basically, the same Senators that voted down the healthcare bill will likely turn on him if given the chance. I also think McCain is trying his best to hold on just so he can be the final "thumbs down" on Trump's presidency.

So in order to get to 67, figure out how many Republicans we can expect to turn (it's not many, but there will be a few), and then you have an idea how many seats we need to flip in 2018. I don't know that we can get to the number we need, but the blue wave is a real thing. And you can't discount the notion that people will continue to get more and more tired of Trump's crap, and more and more Senators will see themselves being dragged down with the Trumptanic and flip just to save their own hides. It could happen.

And if not, I think he goes down on criminal charges and ends up in prison anyway, which is just as good.

If I recall, Flake and Corker are retiring this fall. They won't be there next year if the House votes for Articles of Impeachment and sends them to the Senate.

The charges will have to be monumental for the GOP to turn on Trump. Even then, I have little expectations that they'll put country before party.
