American Farmers Reportedly Horrified by Trumps Tariffs

American Farmers Reportedly Horrified by Trump’s Tariffs
By Clint Rainey April 2, 2018

Iowa is America’s top pork producer, and already some estimate that 10 percent of the state’s farms will probably fail in the coming year.

Workers have begun comparing the situation to the 1980s farm crisis, the industry’s worst period since the Great Depression. Trump’s tariffs haven’t thrilled a lot of farmworkers in the state — the Iowa Soybean Association, in fact, just attacked them as an “immediate and grave threat” to the industry, arguing, “No winners emerge from a trade war and that’s particularly true when it involves food and nutrition.”

Trump, of course, ran on a platform of “saving” America’s farms, yet the situation looks increasingly bleak for farmers: Besides the tariffs, little has been done to help declining crop prices, and according to a recent NPR report, the “outlook for the next year is so bleak, it’s heightening worries — especially in the Northeast — about farmer suicides.”

With an aggressive ICE, farms are running out of illegal farmhands.
10% of farms could die this year because of the trade-war with China. Another 10% next year.
The GOP tax-cut means there's no money left over for an infrastructure-program.
Trump's EPA makes it easier for the industry to pollute your soil and groundwater.

Well, congratulations.

All of whom has suddenly realized that trump lied to them, Despite his vast record of lying and his lies being exposed daily, they never believed trump would lie to them, he cares about them. To which I say, if he was craven enough to cut his disabled nephew off from healthcare, what makes you think he will suddenly care about you?

They grasped at straws to justify voting for him and now they are paying the price. Too bad the rest of us are being taken for the same ride.

It's his emotional red meat that keeps farmers and factory workers in a tizzy. They buy his rhetoric while he steals their future. Now even MORE wealth will bypass Trumpy's Fanboys and land in the lap of the 1%. It's been his plan all along. He dons populist rhetoric while he steals from the common person. We should all notice that Trumpy hasn't proposed ONE piece of legislation that benefits the 99%. Oh. The tax cuts? Wait until the fine print hits the pocketbook. That measly 2 bucks a week is going to get cancelled out, and then some, by ending state and local tax deductions and the increase in health insurance premiums, all engineered by... Trumpy.

So Trumpy is high-fiving his billionaire buddies he sees at his golf resort, but is kicking everyone else in the balls.

You voted him in, Fanboys. Now take the beating you deserve.

and then some.

We were finally at almost full employment after the crash and wages were starting to rise. With this tax scam employers don't have to give out raises, a lower deduction from the payroll tax will give people the illusion of a higher wage. Well until they file their taxes, which will be after the 2018 elections.

They are huge buildings with giant pools of shit pumped into stinky ponds to dry. The poor pigs are locked up behind metal cages standing on grates all their short lives in spaces too small for them to turn around in. Death probably comes as a welcomed relief to them. This is not farming, this is intentional abuse.

And don't get me started on the corn, rice, soybean and wheat producers who will have a tough time finding better markets for their GMO, round up laced, pesticide covered, fungicide choked grains. They are planted with huge tractors the size of a house and sprayed once a week with some deadly poison. Then with huge combines after a good spraying of another round of round up, the grains are grabbed up and stored, where more crap is sprayed on them to keep them from rotting. This is not farming it is poison control.

That produces food that was good to eat. BTW, the pork today taste nothing like the free range pork that I eat as a kid. Hogs were allowed to roam around clean fields that had trees for them to chill out under when it got hot, they frolicked in rain pools or hose pools and routed in the ground with their snouts.

We grew tomatoes and other vegetables from saved heirloom seeds.

So, if big farms die, I won't be crying.

It's not okay to tap into racial bigotry, misogynistic bigotry, anti LGBT bigotry, OR ableist bigotry regardless of who it is directed at. Everytime it happens, it is an endorsement of the hate that drives acceptance of beliefs that exclusion in the name of white nramative supremacy.

won't have a market to sell their expensive products to unless they "suddenly" ensure ($$$$) that Congress drops the tariffs after all of those small farms have been bought. That could be the tactic in play here.

Then bring those family "workers" back in at a pittance since "they"* hated unions so and voted for people who wanted "Right to Work™" legislation in place, with no increase in the minimum wage, let alone implementation of a "living wage". They will bow down to anyone willing to give them a farm job at all (of course even one without any health insurance and certainly "Obamacare" would not be needed either because... Obama.).
