There will always be pockets of terrorist, but I think ISIS would be hard pressed to regain actual territory and a significant presence in Syria if Russian Troops were on the ground in strength.

It’s just my opinion. I think acquiring Syria is part of Putin’s long game. The oil and easy access to the Mediterranean Sea would help make Russia more sanction resistant. I think he’d be willing to spend a lot of resources to secure it. He just needs us out of the theater.

Not every Mideast country has oil. Syria has almost no oil production. Russia is the top oil producer in the world.
