He couples that with having an enormous ego/arrogance and so says things that are rather stupid because he isn't capable of thinking through how he might be wrong.

If he had an ounce of brains, he'd keep his trap shut.

The loudmouthed techniques he's used throughout his life will not work with Federal prosecutors. This is not a TV show where Trump's public pronouncements will affect the ratings or the outcome. This is an extremely serious and deep investigation yet Trump doesn't get it.

Since he doesn't have an ounce of brains, he'll continue to be an idiot.
