YouTube shooter Nasim Aghdam visited gun range, had contact with police before shooting

YouTube shooting suspect Nasim Aghdam visited a gun range hours before she showed up at the company's California campus — packing a legally registered pistol and a grudge — and opened fire, police said Wednesday.

"We know that she was upset with YouTube," San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini said of the motive for the attack, in which Aghdam wounded three people before killing herself.

Barberini said his department is investigating reports that Aghdam's family, who reported her missing, told neighboring Mountain View Police that she hated YouTube and might be found there.

Mountain View officers had found her sleeping in her car early Tuesday, before the shooting, and decided she did not pose a threat, officials said.

On more extreme videos, which is good, but the crackdown is long overdue. This woman was a kook.

From everything I've read she was just a "lifestyle blogger" type person.

PETA often posts these graphic type videos. YouTube restricts access to adults She was losing revenue cuz YouTube was doing this to her videos.

Is she 1st generation or 2nd generation.

If she was upset with youtube, why hurt low level employees with gun shots? How does that help anything?

It's not like you're going to just walk into Youtube HQ and proceed to the Boardroom as a random person from the street w/o encountering security and card checks and such.

Or maybe it'll turn out she had interacted with these people she was mad at and made an appointment to see them specifically then attacked them.

7. It seems we have a social problem with not excelling...

Why aren't we able to be happy with life without not being excellent or incredibly successful at something? This person was mad because her videos were not having the success she felt they deserved. Well, that's life- most people do not necessarily excel at things they do. They might do things adequately enough to be considered good at them or to make a living with them, but the reality is that universal recognition and true excellence are rare... and it is OK. You can be happy and have a good life without being at the top of the food chain. That's a fact our society seems to have an issue with, and I feel it pushes people with mental illnesses or lack of emotional fortitude to unleash their frustrations by killing others.

13. Children are not allowed to fail in schools anymore!

So they are not prepared to accept failure as an option as they grow up. When I was in high school in the 1950's back in India, 10-20% of class flunked final exams, and had to repeat the entire grade year all over again. So I learned early that failure is a valid option, and when I face failures and rejections, I do not go out and shoot people.

While I can believe Youtube's policy change was the last straw for her psyche, this has to be about something much deeper or something that has been simmering for a very long time
