The head of the show Roseanne asks viewers to separate the character Roseanne from the persona of the actress Roseanne, who plays the character Roseanne, which is based on herself.
Uh. Nope.
To the point.

Roseanne knows NOTHING about anything OTHER than comedy. She knows comedy, but she is an IDIOT on everything else especially politics and she loves doing the opposite of everyone around her.
I support the actors and writers because they are some of the best in the biz, but I dont know if I can watch this anymore especially since Laurie had such a small part last night.

(14,174 posts)I laughed with (at?) her during her SNL years. But I always thought her ditsy blonde routine was mostly an acting job. Now I know she was more like a glorified prop Lorne Michaels sent out on stage to get laughs. All she had to do was be able to read her lines from a teleprompter, which at times even that seemed like a huge chore for her in retrospect, and just be 'herself'.
Hey I just wanted to make a point dammit, give me a break, its very difficult finding any funny comedians who are Trump supporters!
edit: I guess I kind of defeated my own argument there,

(9,600 posts)Roseanne is another form of Trump propaganda.

(265 posts)The clip I saw where she's talking with Laurie Metcalf about healthcare proved it to me. Rosanne says that liberals just want the government to give everybody free healthcare, which means they don't understand math. Typical right wing b.s.
I won't watch the show.

(7,506 posts)Roseanne will talk about how the soybean farmers in Ohio have been hurt by Trumps trade war. Probably?
True Blue American
(17,986 posts)She does not have to. Cable news is showing all those being hurt by Trump.
The worst part is that area called Fly over Country. Hog Farmers,Soy bean. They are furious.

(981 posts)but that was well before the tRump era. I used to think that his making fun of how men view themselves was his way of trying to enlighten the knuckle draggers. Now I see him as one more deplorable willing to "grab em by the pu55y".

(62,276 posts)Writers, copy-testers, and the like, are seeing a way to make a "controversial show" with the content, character, and script of the show being completely benign. It's quite literally normalizing propaganda, they know that Trump is a polarizing figure, they know that the shows have a particular stereotype to them, so they are creating a new kind of stereotype and hitching on the polarizing figure.
What's amusing is that, usually, corporate entities freak out when their show star says stupid crap, but this time they seem to be giving it a pass, because the rating are so good, and it appears to be fueling it.

(6,399 posts)This week's live rating was 15 million.
The 27 million can't be compared until we get the full week for the new episode.
Blue_Adept
(6,399 posts)Last week was 27 million with the Live+7 added to it (standard metrics for advertisers) that includes DVR playback for the week following the premiere.
There is no Live+7 for this week's episode yet. You're comparing apples and oranges with incomplete data.
