(14,174 posts)If there were no Republican party to wipe out any gains the previous Democratic administration initiated.
No one would have killed the electric car in the 70's. America would have been ahead of the game in that industry world wide.
Alternative energy investments. Probably be world leaders in that industry too. Still remember Ronnie Reagan ordering the solar panels ripped off of the WH roof.
Maybe a high speed rail system country wide.
More investment in higher education instead of falling back alarmingly. Higher educated make a more advanced, higher paid, industrial nation.
Universal healthcare

(26,624 posts)and that's it, period. and I remember a Repub friend in college outlining the EIC long before it ever existed... total republican idea.
My college friend ended up with a high level job at FEMA under Clinton. That was the award winning FEMA and it incorporated some of the Republican ideas she used to talk about in college.
My friend is now a Democrat. She gave up on the GOP with Nixon and never returned, but I know she was happy when Ford signed the EIC.
