Are the military getting hazardous duty or deployment pay?

Will non US citizen military members be allowed to guard the boarder too?

but it seems excessive to pitch tents and create units every, what, fifty miles? Twenty? There’s some seriously scrubby desert out there.

Just send a bunch of troops down there; they'll know what to do when they get there. Don't bother Trump with the niggling details. He's already planning this weekend's golf getaway. Figure it out!

6. Presumably, they can't act directly as law enforcement without violating Posse Comitatus.

Last time this happened, the Guard people acted in support roles only.

I suppose Trump could declare martial law.

I'm not sure why they are sent off so often, but our local units go every couple of years to the Middle East the way it seems to me. I know multiple tours have been done by the father of my daughters classmate. When they go they set up in tents when they can, but he told me about sleeping on the bare ground in his clothes many times over there. It would be different here of course.. I think they would act as support for the Border Patrol. They can keep the roads hot and keep the interest in crossing down. Someone here said they could arrest people since they are NG and not the military, but I don't know for sure on that. Their families are left keeping things running at their homes, but at least they could easily talk and maybe even visit since this would be in the country..

My opinion on the whole thing is that I would MUCH rather have the NG patrolling the border than to have an expensive wall built or even started. It is a way to get through this presidency.
