I suspect it has not gone unnoticed by many here that the so-called "V-POTUS" has disappeared from public view over the course of the last month. Perhaps he is preoccupied with scrubbing his email....or with "Mother"...or pondering "reversal therapy" youth camps for gay kids...or working with Betsy to determine how to engineer the diversion of $$$millions$$$ from public schools to so-called "charter" schools with "faith-based" (biblical) curricula...or kissing Nethanyahu's murderous ass...or engaged in deep penance along with his fellow self-righteous evangelical sheeples on behalf of the hedonistic, narcissistic, misogynistic, pussy-grabbing, pornstar-chasing liar-in-chief--"Agent Orange"--who purports to be the 45th president of this country "making America great again." Perhaps he's tired of winning.
No. Let us not forget that amid the chaotic shitstorm of personnel turnover exceeding that of the fast food industry, special investigations, reckless tweeting, provocation and hyperbole, gish-galloping, gaslighting, and word-salading--Pence (and his ilk) is a snake in the grass laying in wait to sink its venomous fangs into the body politic and culture of the nation.
I suspect he's been busy planning his administration, don't you?

(1,606 posts)In Iowa we have just seen the preview of such policy with the "fetal heartbeat" bill that passed the state senate and is awaiting a vote (attached to SF 359) which bans the sale of fetal tissue or "body parts."
Such hyperbolic legislation is the handmaiden of extremism. But I suspect it plays well in Orange City among Steve King's twisted base.

(1,470 posts)Shouldn't we be hearing more about him during this Russia probe? He was head of the transition and Manafort's pick for vp. He should be up to his eyeballs in this investigation.

(30,540 posts)some might think he's acceptable but he's nothing more then a coherent, non-tweeting verson of Trump who will be even more damaging...

(1,606 posts)You nailed it.
The paradox we face (assuming we win the House) is (1) impeach Trump, (2) who knows what the Senate will do--but I sure as hell don't trust Sen. Jud. Comm. Chair GRASSLEY--but let it play out, and (3) hope to hell 45 is politically neutered and we don't end up with PENCE?
Meanwhile, the nation drifts haplessly for 2 years while this nightmare plays out, and by virtue of stalled action on policy initiatives on critical issues facing our nation, we become inherently weaker and even more vulnerable to interference and exploitation by foreign powers who seek to reduce our standing, power and influence in the world. Actually, we are well down that path if anyone cares to notice.

Trump is an incompetent who loves creating chaos but with Pence there will be malice with intent along with a rational ability to get things done.

I'll count myself lucky to get another 10 years out of this body... but for those left here yes, I worry about what we are leaving them.

(4,940 posts)KentuckyWoman, I am also looking ahead 10 years. I don't see me in the picture, which is one reason I'm busting my tail to help make our country is left to those who care for it.
Like my grandkids. I wish I could see that far down th road, and not come up with a Rollerball or Mad Max vision. And, dammit! I have worked HARD locally, Borough-wide, state & national to try and start rectifying what Nixon, Ford, George Bush, George W. Bush, and now sTrumpet have done to us.
