Syria is 500 miles from Russia

Last time we bombed Syria we gave Russia a heads up. What if the strike Trump has planned kills a lot of Russians and they shoot down one of our planes or one of their submarine launched missiles takes out one of our ships ?

I am not at all confident with Trump at the helm.

Putin would LOVE it if US strikes against Russia so he can start the WWIII. He’s been provoking it for a while now. And do ‘t forget Trump ‘needs’ a real war to stay in power, cancel elections, military draft, etc.

he wants to mobilize russia and present it as savior of the world against US and its allies. The reality is that US is very far from Syria so technically has no business being there in the first place, it’s on a totally different continent.

On 18 January 2017, Russia and Syria signed an agreement, effective forthwith, whereunder Russia would be allowed to expand and use the naval facility at Tartus for 49 years on a free-of-charge basis and enjoy sovereign jurisdiction over the base

If they target chemical weapons (or possibly just dual-use) facilities and that kills "a lot of Russians," um, Putin will put arm's length between him and them.

"How dare the Americans kill Russians actively engaged in the production of chemical weapons!?" isn't a winning line. Even said russkim po televizii. Really, trust me on this. Russians don't much like chemical weapons, either. Except perhaps if used in the defense of Russia. Syria =/= Russia.

The Great Putin who sits on the 7 hills could say, "They were engaged in the production of condoms." This would be a winning line. But it's sketchy.

No, they'd suddenly become "independent contractors" and while he might seethe he's not likely to do more than ramp up the killing of people in Aviivka or Torets'k. Killing a few Ukrainian fascists, even if they're 60 and former KP SSSR members is always a winning sound bite.

If they target Tartus--this is a long-shot, by the way--then there'd be purgatory to pay. Not quite hell. But ranting and raving would know no limits. Why, Putin might even tweet something. Like we need another twit. Er ... tweeter.

Lie down with wolves, rise with fleas. Live like a wolf, howl like a wolf.

As well as US B-1s and ships.

Now that air base is a potential retaliation target.

First time have watched Fox in years. Have not had home TV since 2011 and away but with TV. Thought to see spin compared to MSNBC.

The B-1s came from Qatar.
