Trump order targets wide swath of public assistance programs

Trump order targets wide swath of public assistance programs
BY NATHANIEL WEIXEL - 04/14/18 09:20 PM EDT

The Trump administration is seeking to completely revamp the country’s social safety net, targeting recipients of Medicaid, food stamps and housing assistance.

Trump is doing so through a sweeping executive order that was quietly issued earlier this week — and that largely flew under the radar.

It calls on the Departments of Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture and other agencies across the federal government to craft new rules requiring that beneficiaries of a host of programs work or lose their benefits.

Trump argued with the order, which has been in the works since last year, that the programs have grown too large while failing to move needy people out of government help.

The administration’s effort could also face legal challenges. Medicaid advocates in Kentucky have already sued over the work requirements, and additional safety net changes could provoke even more lawsuits.

He pretends to be the executive branch by not doing his job.

He is the legislative branch by picking and choosing which laws he will execute, by revamping and changing laws governing executive programs without legislative approval, by destroying with neglect entire departments established by laws. And he now starts wars without authorization from congress. Wasn't there something in his oath about faithfully executing?

He is the judiciary branch by reinterpreting laws to punish the poor and establish unlawful requirements on programs established by legislative action. I was expecting the usurping of the judiciary when W. started those dumb ass signing letters. Now Trump reinterprets the law as he thinks it should be.

Next up, stop payment of all legislative salaries until all his appointments are approved. It's along the same lines, you know...work requirements for government monies, only he's f*cking with rich people.

trillions of dollars more in additional debt. If the wealthiest want most of wealth, the wealthiest must pay most of the taxes; plain and simple!
