Memo to @MichaelCohen212: If @POTUS offers to pardon you provided you clam up, remember @AGSchneiderman can still charge you for serious New York State felonies for your bank frauds & other financial crimes. Trump can’t help you there. Just ask your attorneys.

It is also why Mueller turned the info and case over to New York Prosecuters.

It is also the reason Trump is squealing so loud.

4. Cohen Would Also Lose 5th Amendment Rights

Since you can't be incriminated in a crime that the prez pardons you for, you can't refuse to answer in court. Cohen just doesn't have any good options.

5. Cohen's Options

The state could not charge him with the exact same crimes he receives a pardon for because that would come under the "double jeopardy" laws. However, I'm sure there are many other crimes they could charge him with.

If Cohen accepted a pardon, he would forfeit his 5th amendment rights, and Cohen would instantly become Mueller's star witness.

Wonder just how much of betrayal Putin would consider that? Seems like Cohen's best option is prison.
