I have been hearing this a lot from the talking heads. Funny how everyone else has to act like an adult, but it is ok for Trump.
And unfortunately you have to be petty when it comes to fighting Trump. He is a bully and if you dont stand up to him he senses weakness.

(115,783 posts)Comey is taking heat for having written what seems to be a pretty accurate and objective description of Trump's appearance. Maybe Comey should have left any descriptions of him out of the book, but Trump has cornered the market on pettiness. Nobody else can come close. Even so, it seems like anyone who has anything to do with Trump, voluntarily or otherwise, comes away with at least a little of his dirt on him. He pollutes everything he touches.

(9,291 posts)and that pisses off Trump, I'm good. One day the mask will slip, and he will be finally shown on tv for the asshole he is. Turn up the heat.

If we can't accept this then Trump is winning.

(6,096 posts)Thank you very much for this. I think Comey is one of the most decent and knows his business.
Can't help what the flamed red man says....I will always love Comey, and Mueller, whatever they may do.
Can't wait til they get red of the blob with the horrible hair job.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(2,850 posts)On the other hand, trump doesn't deserve professional courtesy from anyone. He's burned down every norm and courtesy associated with his office and he is nakedly attacking our system of government. The gloves should be coming off now, and the daggers should be coming out of their sheathes. People who care about this country need to do what will hurt trump and not what is in keeping with the norms and courtesies appropriate to normal political situations.

(13,133 posts)where it's at. Letting our system of government being dictated to by the likes of Corporate owned communications and the largess of the billionaire class is what we have. We have in general paid nothing for it and in general, that's what we got, nothing. A nothing congress, a nothing president and the ones who paid for it all telling us that is just the way it is.
We will probably end up having to fix the buyers before we get to fix our government. The people who built whatever we have left here in trade used their sweat, labor, love, blood and eventually their lives to put us where we are now. One might ask what will it take when it's my turn to belly up to the bar? I would think we will know when we get there.
Comey does what he thinks is correct and if we fault him it's only because we didn't give him the correct tools to do the job he needed to do in the first place. The graying of the lines only happens when we do ourselves firstly

(1,474 posts)trump is a coward posing as a tough guy. Attacking him like Comey and Avenatti are doing inspires trump's idiotic id to lash out.
Spanky, the problem with being an asshole is that there will always be someone better at it than you.
As Democrats, many find tiny hand jokes petty. Intellects struggle to compete with the non-ending stream of hatred coming from trump. Comey and Avenatti are my heroes!
Trump only wins if he is the exception to the rule of civility. Play a little bit on his level and he looks like an idiot.
Just how far would Trump have gotten if anyone had stood up saying: "I only give respect to those that have earned it and loser Trump hasn't earned it?"
If any one of Little Marco, Lyin' Ted or Low Energy Jeb had done it, we'd be bitching about their failed policies instead of watching Trump do real damage to the Republic.

(13,340 posts)I'm disappointed that this seems to be the way we have to engage.
I don't like it. But if that's the way it has to work, then so be it. I'm not a fan of noble defeats. If we have to get in the mid to save the country, so be it. We can re-establish decorum later.

It's a MEMOIR. He's allowed to include his personal thoughts and feelings, even if they're not the most ennobled.
Pfffft. Just trying to find SOMETHING to denigrate him on.

(17,009 posts)Bitching about them getting a plane ride back home after you fired them is petty. Whatever Comey does back is nothing but fair game. Twilter has it coming. I'm so over this "we are better than this" crap. Exactly where has that gotten us? They go low, we go high? I don't think so. They go low, we follow them down and stomp them into the ground so hard they don't ever get back up.

Keep slinging mud if that's what it takes to buy Mueller & company the time they need to make it all airtight and unstoppable

(3,608 posts)circles under his eyes? I mean yeah I guess he could of left those parts out but I'm pretty sure the editor and publisher really would want that in there. We need to be realistic here...nothing at all in the book and it's boring and then everybody is complaining about that.
I don't find what I've heard so far as particularly petty. I mean if anyone forgets what the fuck petty is just look at what the so called fake prezident of the United States does every day.

(11,564 posts)Is it his book? The publicity sideshow? (assuming there is one - I have seen no evidence so far) Something he said in an impromptu on-camera?

(5,810 posts)If they do, he is ready to double down on the snark. I kept hoping every time he called Little Marco a name or was disrespectful and rude to Jeb that even one of them would have dished it back hard and fast. tRump is used to people cowering and running away since he is the BULLY in the room. But if they had ALL agreed ahead of time to not back down and to pepper tRump with the same as he was dispensing so freely, hed have folded like a house of cards. They just had to steel themselves to hammer him and never, ever back down.
With Comey, when he was testifying last year, he showed restraint and professionalism. But many of us have issues with how the Hillary Clinton matter of emails was handled. That is water under the bridge and cant be changed. What he can do is be brutally honest now and do everything he can to take tRump down. I hope he, Mueller and others succeed. If he has to be petty, so be it. Considering how tRump treated him, I think he is being fair to Commander Bonespurs.

(37,648 posts)His career went to ashes, so hope he makes a bundle on the book. He is part of an historical story, so I think it's good he's putting his truth in a book for the future. That he lays it all out there, rather than as answers to questions in testimony or hearings.
He has a right to hold a grudge. Who wouldn't? Being fired like that, without warning, and so disrespectfully. He was out of town on FBI business, so fired long distance. And Trump was angry at McCabe for authorizing his return via plane. Trump wanted him stranded out there and having to pay his own way back across the country.
So yeah...he holds a grudge. Like any normal person would. But also, he's got truth on his side. In the face of such a lying SOB, everyone who can SHOULD put the truth down in a book, so that the truth is there for posterity instead of Trump's alternate reality.
