Hillary Clinton Will Star In GOP Midterm Plan

Fox News: “Clinton is starring in the Republican Party’s 2018 midterm strategy. With no Democrat to attack in the White House for the first time in nearly a decade, Republicans are betting big that the ghost of Clinton will serve them well in 2018.”

“Even if she avoids the spotlight moving forward, the Republican Party plans to evoke her early and often in key congressional races, particularly in regions Trump won, which feature most of the midterm season’s competitive races.”

“Internal polling and focus groups conducted by Republican campaigns find that Clinton remains one of the most unpopular high-profile Democrats in the nation, second only to Nancy Pelosi, the House minority leader.”

Well, many in the media and some in the print press are OBSESSED with that deplorable 30-35% (Fatso's base). Screw Democrats, Independents, Women, Minorities, the young certain income voters etc. It's all about that 30-35% of tRumputin's deplorable base and how THEY feel about their Dear Leader

And these districts are so gerrymandered that die hards are the only ones GOP House members think they need to worry about. Not a winning strategy to become/stay relevant as a national party- but may save a few red seats from going blue and that may be all they can hope for right now.

Despite all that has been said about drumpf there has been zero sympathy for Clinton in the MSM. she remains a hated figure for not “taking responsibility” for “her own bad campaign”.

Despite the fact she did... and it wasn’t her fault Putin had her overthrown in favor of his puppet.

They spent that entire election season creating a Pavlovian response to the name Clinton and I see No reason to believe Clinton Derangememt Syndrome won’t serve them again.

The media has carried water for the right-wing's anti-Clinton smears and hit jobs for years, and that is why people feel the way they do about her.

...Saccone was apparently running against Nancy Pelosi! Even though Pelosi never came to Pennsylvania or even endorsed Lamb, she was Saccone's opponent in all the local TV ads. It was ridiculous, the GOP couldn't get it out of their heads.

Needless to say it's a useless strategy, which is I'm sure the reason why they're using it across the nation by next fall. Only instead of Pelosi this time the strawman will be Hillary. What a bunch of lost souls they are!

It fires up their base. It is clearly and absolutely their best bet on achieving this requirement.

Unfortunately for them, in order to actually win much they're also going to have to benefit voters at some point, which would be so completely out of character we don't need to worry about it.

Oh, right - you mean providing public services for the people of this nation, or what Republicans call "pandering."

Republicans only provide services and benefits for the wealthy corporatists, but they're not voters; they're owners.

By filming commercials for 3 or 4 republican candidates in which she compliments each of them for several things - Sec Clinton should release the commercials near the end of September!

The republicans will $hit themselves because Sec Clinton has said good things about their candidates and will go broke trying to explain to their idiot voters that the candidates are republicans and not Dems...

anything, while the Democratic candidate in that respective state or district will be campaigning on issues that will actually affect people in their state.

So far whatever strategy the republicans have been using sure hasn't worked very well, and this included some of the reddest states around

It will be interesting if the republicans running in 2018 are going to ask trump to campaign for them......

Where is the beautiful health care for all, much cheaper than Obama care?

Where is the peace you promised vs "warmonger Hillary"?

Where are all the coal mining jobs? Where are all the factory jobs? Paying a middle class paycheck, not walmart wages.

All they got to show is a budget busting massive tax cut for big business and billionaires.

if it tries this. Did Luntz's focus groups tell them to campaign on the Tax Heist, I wonder? Actually trying to do that has so far given them a nasty shock.

This is obviously meant to reassure and boost turnout by feeding its "red in tooth and nail" base what it wants.

But what else? Are they really driven to just securing their conservative "redoubts"? Or is this a way of securing them without spending money needed elsewhere?

They're not stupid and the stakes and battle for power are enormous.

Dog whistling, blatant racism, blatant sexism, demonization of certain 'liberals'...that's been the Republican playbook for 50 years. All while bashing the "liberal media," which has worked like a charm (the mainstream media promotes false equivalencies and has become too afraid to identify facts as facts and falsehoods as falsehoods). Republicans have been suffering a lot of losses since Trump took office, because Trump (who is just a symptom of the aforementioned playbook) is such an extremely dangerous and outlandish individual. But, make no mistake, that Republican strategy has paid many dividends. And it's all they've got.

Absent that strategy, the GOP would go extinct. Absent racism alone, the GOP would go extinct. Support for right wing economics, right wing environmental policy and right wing foreign policy would be minimal. Those who bemoan people "voting against their economic interests" need to understand that those folks are voting *for* their (perceived) cultural/social interests. Alter the latter and you put an end to the former. The struggle to combat racism and sexism (structural/institutional and individual) is vital. Those who attack "identity politics" are severely misguided.
