Anyone else notice a lot of bats flying around your house this year?

In 23 years living here I can't remember ever seeing one before. But now if I go outside in the evening there are 30-40 bats flying around my back yard eating bugs. Flying up close to me too. Kind of unnerving.

Last year it was toads and tree frogs everywhere. Think I prefer them.

Bats? Why, no. We have no bats here. Come in and... see for yourself. I assure you that you will find no bats in our captivating home.

It's possible that you have more mosquitoes than usual this year; if so, you're seeing more bats, who are eating them.

And they used to eat a lot of bugs. So now without the toads and tree frogs there is an explosion of flying bugs and the bats have moved in to pick up the slack.

That is what I think anyway.

two or three weeks ago. And they would fly very high and come swooping down and make all kinds of fancy maneuvers. I had never seen as many dragonflies in my life. For some reason, they all seemed to be in my and my neighbor's back yard??

The federal government has heavily regulated visits to caves on government land to keep the disease from spreading further.

They hang around for a week or two. Every evening I can count hundreds passing my house in ten minutes, or so. Maybe a thousand or two pass every evening. My counting ceases when the light disappears.

were more. Anything that eats mosquitos is a friend of mine.

I have a lot of toads and snakes around the house. I recognize some of the toads by their size and color and they seem to frequent the same area of the yard like they've staked out territory. I don't know what kind of snakes I have, but they are small, kind of brownish gray and have little rounded snouts. If I run across them while I'm working in my flower beds, I just move them out of the way so I don't hurt them by accident. Since I don't use any pesticides, there's plenty of bugs for the critters to eat.

rabies. Almost impossible to catch the one who pooped in your eye if there is a bunch of them.
