The president wanted to do that, Conway said. The president had a great time bringing his case to the American people, as he does on social media and these bilateral Q&As and certainly on the South Lawn and press pool sprays and other interviews, and the president said he would like to perhaps come once a month as news breaks.
Doocy yelped and started applauding, although the best grim-faced co-host Brian Kilmeade could muster was, that would be great.
Pretty much a monthly basis, Conway said. Back in the private sector he was on every week, every Monday. At certain times, same time every weekend, he was going through 15 or 20 minutes of his view on policy. Many people went back to listen to the interviews for clues as how he might govern as the president and his issues of the day.

You see that consistency, that unbroken thread between some of those interviews and much of the policies today, she said. I had to credit him yesterday, I said, You didnt even put a semicolon in there you covered so much territory, that he leaves the rest of us cold in terms of our analytical and conversational skills. The president was able to cover so much ground with you yesterday and appreciated the platform because it connects him with the American people, not just on Fox News, but at that really was the buzz around the globe yesterday in large part, because everybody had to replay your clips. That must have been delicious.

(14,978 posts)you don't have to tell other people -- they'll know w/o you saying anything.
And if you have to get lackeys to go out and tell everyone, then you're not AND you have a pathetic, fragile ego. SAD!

One thing though - Trump and the whole GOP leave me cold. We've got to get them out of there before they destroy this republic completely. Because they will if we let them.
And that truly is chilling.

I'm seriously starting to believe the GOP is a magnet for all the psychopaths born in America. And, it makes sense when you think about it, just by looking at their statements and political history.

(14,584 posts)corporate America.
Unfortunately, the capitalist 'free market' economy we have also encourages psychopathic or sociopathic behavior for those at the top, and for those who aspire to be at the top. The unfortunate doctrine of fiduciary responsibility in publicly held companies has C-level people responsible ONLY to increase earnings for shareholders - without regard for workers, consumers, communities or the earth itself.
Bad, and unsustainable policy. It is an unsustainable system.
Sigh. This is the wrong direction for us as a species, you know. Wrong economically. Wrong environmentally. Wrong morally and wrong spiritually. What kind of planet, what kind of society will we bestow upon our grandchildren and great grandchildren, I wonder.

(14,492 posts)I've worked for and with many small/medium corporate managers as well as a lot of industrial plant managers, and many of them showed signs of a degree of psychopathy and often narcissism. And, the larger the firm, it seemed to be worse.
I agree that the whole damn system is now upside down. Maybe I'm naive, but it seemed many years ago, corporations were attached to - and showed some compassion for - their employees and the communities where they were located. That's no longer true and humans are just numbers and community means nothing.
There no doubt as you say, that this is not sustainable and must end. Inequality is getting worse every day and our planet simply cannot sustain the attack on the environment, much less the increasing drain on limited natural resources. Just the demand for fresh water alone may someday bring us to our knees.
Since the wealthy have most all of the money and don't seem at all interested in reversing capitalism's relentless drive to destruction, it may be that severe climate change will be the ultimate end game for us. It will probably be that, or nuclear war, or a world-wide (new) great depression - any of which will result in massive loss of life.
The peoples of the world are very short-sighted since we all have relatively short life spans and hardly no society seems interested in reducing population growth. And, I like you shudder to think what my precious granddaughter will witness in her lifetime. Apparently, we just simply have not evolved nearly enough to survive. These thoughts shake me every day.

(10,721 posts)Kelly sometimes breaks code and in one moment in the past acknowledged she is a bullshitter. Her justification was 'well, we won!"
So she is semi-self aware and breaks character. He does not.

(23,959 posts)Trump doesn't have to be intelligent. he doesn't need to handle complex ideas carefully. such tasks remain completely incidental to the position for which he has been electorally engaged. his supporters, and they are indeed legion, expect nothing more from him then fury and bluster to match what they wish they could say and do every day, as long as he effectively shits on the people they themselves hate. he is their tool, their bludgeon by which they will beat the rest of us into submission.
0:25 "Noo. That is incidental!"
meanwhile, he's still getting free media coverage for whatever poisonous nonsense bubbles out of his piehole, as every comedy show on the continent picks it up and scrutinizes it. we see such coverage as much-deserved mockery of the vile Trump, but his supporters see liberals disrespecting the office of the presidency and making fun of them by proxy.
Conway is quite correct in this -- he covers a lot of territory, and he does so carelessly, with all the tact of a rusty road grader. the vast majority of humans on this planet would seek to communicate consistent positions in a clear manner, and that is precisely why "he leaves the rest of us cold", as he completely disregards all norms of communication in service of pure volume. his talent is being the loudest one in the room, not the smartest, and his genius lies in knowing that limitation full well. he would never excel at "3D chess" or whatever, he would sooner kick over the chess board and take a shit on it than move a single piece.
what we look at as a public failure of basic cognitive abilities, his loyalists view as a successful media blitz. we see him exposing his lack of intellect, his followers see him solidifying his base.
as long as the conversation is all about Trump, he wins 100%. that's why topics like the investigations into Russian interference and Cohen's shenanigans are troublesome and dangerous for him -- they make the conversation about someone else. when that happens, he loses momentum. when it's about Hannity making dishonest and possibly illegal investments, that's a loser for the Trumpistas, and his handlers need to work overtime to make the story all about Trump again.
