Voters reject plan to boost transit in the gridlocked Atlanta area

Metro Atlantans headed to the polls Tuesday and resoundingly defeated the T-SPLOST by a margin of 63 to 37.

For those who campaigned vigorously against it, the vote served as validation of months of effort.

A diverse group of T-SPLOST opponents, about 50 in all, gathered at a sports bar in midtown Atlanta to watch the results.

The returns soon showed a big defeat for the one percent sales tax increase, a plan that would have raised more than $7 billion for road and transit projects across the metro region over 10 years. .................(more)

that most of these people are as dumb as a box of rocks and are damned proud of it.

The weather is hot and the people are cold.

This is the fruit of the DOT changing the HOV lanes (2 person) over to HOV Toll lanes (3 person or you can pay a toll to use them).

This was in no way indicated when the HOV lanes were originally built, now it's become a cash cow from the high income people who can afford up to 90 cents per mile for a toll to use what are now called "express lanes"..
