Lt. John Pike, UC Davis Pepper Spray Cop, No Longer Working At UC Davis

Lt. John Pike, the campus police officer who pepper sprayed seated student protesters, is no longer working at the University of California, Davis, the Sacramento Bee reports.

UC Davis spokesman Barry Shiller declined to elaborate or explain whether he was fired or left on his own accord.

"Consistent with privacy guidelines established in state law and university policy, I can confirm that John Pike's employment with the university ended on July 31, 2012," Shiller told the Bee.

Claudia Morain, News Service Director at UC Davis, also confirmed Pike's departure to CNN but would not go into details. Pike also declined to comment when reached by the Bee.

A "lieutenant" of campus police is rather like the "captain" of the Good Ship Lollipop, IMO.

It's a title.

We'll not know the full story unless he tells us I guess.

My former university's cops were state police and took all the same training as an state trooper.

He doesn't look like he would pass the medical physical, never mind the physical fitness test!

He does look like he's a natural as a Keystone Kop, though!

Of course, he might not have the fitness for that gig, either!

People that gave the orders get early retirements and get to keep their 300K a year jobs.

Typical. The guy, no matter how horrible this was, was following orders. Orders from people way higher in the chain than he was. Officer Pike would not have done this on his own, he was told to do this. And the people that told him to do this are being rewarded.

And would do exactly the same thing again.

Not when the people that gave the orders are the same people that would authorize the investigation.

When will we start holding officers accountable for their brutality and excessive use of force? The handling of protesters is Unconstitutional and endangers the basic rights of EVERY last American. Is this the country we were raised in, were men and women are beaten, gassed, pepper-sprayed and arrested for their disapproval of the government? Read about how the Cops profit from rounding up protesters and minorities in our Capitalized Police State at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-privatized-police-state.html
