Poll: Trump support among union members has fallen 15 points
By John Bowden - 05/04/18 09:56 AM EDT
President Trump's support among America's union workers has dropped 15 points in just a year, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Friday.
The president enjoyed an all-time high of more than 60 percent support among union workers in the same poll last March, an unusually strong number for a Republican.
But his support among the demographic has dropped steadily nearly every month since then, Reuters reports, despite his pursuit of trade tariffs that labor unions have traditionally supported.
Trump's support among union workers now sits at 47 percent, down from its all-time high of 62 percent, according to the poll. April numbers have not yet been released.

(1,009 posts)It's not necessarily because their union supports him.
I can only go by what I experienced with my brother. He's in the Teamster union, who from what I've seen never supported Trump, and strongly called out the GOP's intention to bust unions with right to work laws. But I believe between what his employer pushed, and facebook/fox propaganda, he became a trump supporter. I know the employer had to be involved, because he was under the impression his union supported Trump. When I provided him with proof from the teamsters website, he still denied what he was seeing.
He's a lost cause.
I don't see how any union could have supported Trump or Republicans, knowing that the GOP has bust unions in numerous states, and was hoping to do it at the federal level. Even the steel union, which may have a short term advantage with steel tariffs, in the long run their union may be dismantled. If they supported Trump, it was incredibly short sided and greedy.

(2,785 posts)stupid for union members to support republicans and your telling me it was as high as 60% and still 47%. I can almost guarantee that Trump's support among the leadership of most unions isn't any close to either. These guys stopped listening to their leadership along time ago and would rather listen to talk radio.
