...the nomination must be made by January 31 of the year when the prize is to be awarded. It's not likely that anyone submitted an application for Trump by that date. (And IMO, they're not going to help legitimatize the jerk, now or later.)

According to their website, nominations for 330 candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2018 were received by the deadline, of which 216 are individuals and 114 are organizations. They narrow that down pretty quickly, and then do extensive research of their 'short list'. They will not release their deliberations for any one prize year until 50 years have passed.
