all across the country. According to what I've read, there were long lines their stores from MA to CA.

(12,606 posts)do you believe that all the bigoted Chik-Fil-Aholes would be the raptured?
My bet is on the meek: the poor, the forgotten, the innocent and the good.
My bet is that the leftovers will all be angry adults with high cholesterol from eating fried death.

(17,651 posts)don't want to share the same space with 'em. Their god is not my God. My God never said to hate gays or deny them their civil rights.
Perhaps they have it all wrong. Wasn't it said that the meek shall inherit the earth?

I don't believe that the fried-death eating a-holes understand that line or its subtext.

(12,336 posts)Just what is the world coming to?
"Hey I know what we can do today! Let's all go out and support chickfila (whatever spellingwise). After all, that guy don't like gays!"
Or here's my alternative. "Hey I know what we can do today! Let's go about our daily lives and then have some chicken on the grill! Yum! Sounds good and I support gay marriage."
But then, what do I know? I'm just a Midwestern simpleton who must not have been raised right. Someone actually said that to me once, but that's another story for another time.

(5,417 posts)Chic-fil-a is always the busiest fast food place here.
At lunch, their drive through lane is 2 lanes wide, and they are the only business I've seen that does that.

(115,103 posts)I saw one comment that we should support the company because we should "live and let live".
Here it is: " I know the story, the disturbances, but I do NOT understand what all the hoop-la is about? In my opinion it doesn't matter. Enjoy your chicken, and live and let live ... in peace."

(20,135 posts)I can't think of a single example of even the most ardent supporter of marriage equality saying churches should be forced to perform same-sex marriages.
I swear, I think some of these people really, truly believe that they'll be forcibly divorced from their spouse and entered into a same-sex marriage.

(18,497 posts)If people organized church trips around it, which is what I imagine some of those mega-churches did., it would be an easy thing to do.
I think there is just one chick-fil-a in all of Savannah, GA.
People with nothing better to do drove upwards of 50 miles because their pastor or some other nut job told them to do so.
Just when they overwhelmed theaters with attendance of that piece of torture porn Mel Gibson made a few years back. Look. The support for Mel and his traditional godly values are off the chart in America.
Yeah, right.
Didn't change the fact that Mel Gibson was rapidly being recognized as a hateful, violent lunatic.

They have already lost this 'issue'. The momentum cannot be turned back.
Romney has already lost the election.

(89,244 posts)the problem for chick fila would be whether they can sustain this in the future. it's one thing for people to come out and make an effort to go there to show support.
but how about long term. i don't think mostp eople who go there eat there every day . they rely on many different people to come in each day. and if many of those people stop going there it wouldhurt them.

i am glad you have been around the block...i am no spring chicken either. but chick-fil-a has been around for about 60 years and is growing faster now (and thanks to this dust up will find a new group of ardent supporters) than it ever has.

Just ask the founder of Urban Outfitters, Richard Hayne, who is extremely conservative but has gone to great lengths to keep his identity and views separate from the corporation he started.

(32,039 posts)and that is what will do it in. I'm sure the Fundies found that out when they lined up today .... (and here in Texas it was ridiculous - the lines were long all day). It has alienated at least some of the country and they are not going to be able to bring in that crowd on a daily basis when dinner for 4 is $25.

(32,078 posts)Not surprising. This part of the city is the district that elected that nutbag, Paul Broun. Augusta is where the Southern Baptist Convention was born, after splitting with the national Baptist church because they didn't want to give up slavery. And, it's home to the Augusta National Golf Course, which still refuses to admit women as members. And, most people here are fine with that. So, no surprise they hate gay people, too. No surprise, whatsoever.

(4,310 posts)the country think otherwise by showing up at some fast food
joint that wasn't on most of our radar until very recently. I've
never eaten at a Chick Shit stand in my life but, I have a gay
SIL, a gay nephew, niece and my best friends son is gay. You can
believe our very large extended family and friends will never eat
at one again if they have in the past.
Wonder how all those companies felt about their employees taking
a two hour lunch to stand in line for a lousy sandwich. What a bunch
of losers.
Sad my wife told me she had chick-shit yesterday for lunch, SMDH; she asked what the problem was?? I really have to realize that a lot of people are not into politics or daily Corporate BS, failing in job to keep her informed but I will not quit.
