What's with this CBS poll?

A majority of voters now think the special counsel investigation is politically driven, even though Republicans are leading the investigation? Is the Repug noise machine working? Is the public that easily duped into believing up is down? Do we really live in a nation of slobbering simpletons, as would appear to be the case? Doesn't bode well....

"This is GOP types mostly as the poll points out and most Americans still think Trump needs to cooperate.

This poll was conducted by telephone May 3-6, 2018 among a random sample of 1,101 adults nationwide. Data collection was conducted on behalf of CBS News by SSRS of Glen Mills, Pa. Phone numbers were dialed from samples of both standard land-line and cellphones.

The poll employed a random digit dial methodology. For the landline sample, a respondent was randomly selected from all adults in the household. For the cellphone sample, interviews were conducted with the person who answered the phone.

Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish using live interviewers. The data have been weighted to reflect U.S. Census figures on demographic variables.

The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus three percentage points. The error for subgroups may be higher and is available by request. The margin of error includes the effects of standard weighting procedures which enlarge sampling error slightly."

And it’s roughly the same order of magnitude as the small shift upward in Trump’s approval.

So it’s likely just sample error.

pollsters would quit calling landlines. They may as well call households that still have VCRs, or ones that still don't have indoor plumbing, or ones that have yet to make the leap to electricity. Sorry, no offense to those who still have landlines. Feel free to punch me if you ever see me in public.

although by a shockingly low margin of only a few million. But yes, the rest are pretty much slobbering simpletons who wear their electoral fecklessness like a ring in their noses.
