South Korea's KAI says paid firm of Trump's lawyer $150,000 for accounting adviceReuters Staff MAY 9, 2018 / 4:05 AM / UPDATED 3 HOURS AGO
SEOUL (Reuters) - South Koreas Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd (KAI) said on Wednesday it paid $150,000 for consulting services on accounting matters to a firm set up by U.S. President Donald Trumps private lawyer Michael Cohen.
The arrangement came as the company, backed by state-owned Export-Import Bank of Korea, competes to sell trainer jets to the U.S. Air Force in an auction that could be worth up to $16 billion.
Payments by KAI and other companies including Novartis AG to Essential Consultants, a company that also paid porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 in October 2016 just before the U.S. presidential election, were described on Tuesday by her lawyer Michael Avenatti.

(146,307 posts)KAI: Could you advise us how to funnel a couple of million dollars to Donald Trump undetectably?
Cohen: Sure. I'll give you a list of bank accounts for LLCs I have. You break that money down into smaller increments, say $150,000 and deposit in those accounts. Call them consulting fees. After a few months, I'll shuffle them around and get the money to Trump under a different category. It's just an accounting issue.
KAI: And what will your fee be?
Cohen: Let's just say $150,000. I'll take care of handling that, too. I'll just take it out of your couple of million. Sound OK?
KAI: This will be kept quiet, right?
Cohen: Oh, yes. Nobody's watching all of those LLCs. They only handle smaller amounts of money, so they're under the radar.
KAI: We'll wire those deposits on Monday.
Cohen: Great!
