(58,785 posts)There are other progressive groups less rigid and narrow than Our Revolution, though, that are also trying to help women get elected: Higher Heights, Run for Something, Progressive Caucus, and ?, and no doubt they're all busy.
Emily's List says over 34,000 women have reached out to them since 2016 happened!

(58,785 posts)that's focusing on getting black women elected, says Emily's is such a "gold standard" that sometimes people want to know why a candidate hasn't been endorsed by them, what's wrong with her? No doubt over time some of these other groups will become familiar names also.
As for Our Revolution and Bernie Sanders, I suspect the newer poll numbers and these primary election results are starting to show something real, belying media puffery, that has been there all along since our tragic losses in 2016: That a large number of "silent" mainstream Democrats have learned things about him back then and since that they don't like. How could it be otherwise? And some will have heard about Our Revolution's attempts to sabotage Democrats running for office. Even many of Sanders' supporters have moved to other, newer groups, hopefully ones far more willing to actually, you know, get committed people elected than they are to lose elections.

(58,785 posts)a mission to elect pro-choice Democratic women. All 20 of their current candidates won so far because Emily's List chose them carefully and trained, funded, and supported them to victory.
Unfortunately, but also predictably, some on the farther left are very unhappy with Emily's List, whose progressivism is broad-based, as broad as that of the Democratic Party's, not narrowly and rigidly ideological. And because a key issue for support is viability. They seek strong Democrats who can appeal enough to the voters they seek to represent to be elected. And Emily's List has become very good at getting its women into office.
They should be. Barbara Mikulski, who retired from the senate after 2016, was the first woman they succeeded in electing to office -- almost 32 years ago. So Emily's List is also getting criticism from the farther-than-liberal left these days for being around too long, and for not changing its criteria to back less viable candidates from the more radical left.
They have successfully elected so many women that they dont get to be punk rock anymore, said a Democratic strategist who has worked with the group. ...
EMILYs Lists traditional criteria for viability can shut out women of color, detractors argue. EMILYs List has, in fact, endorsed many candidates of color in recent years. According to numbers provided by the group, 40% of the candidates that have been elected to Congress with its support were women of color. ...

Some say Emily's List has outlived its usefulness. Most Democrats clearly disagree.
Congratulations, Emily's List. And thank you!!!
