North Korea released three American citizens being held prisoner in that nation today. After being turned over to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, they boarded a plane back to the United States. After embarking on their journey home, the three men who had been held without communications with their families were informed that in their absence, Donald Trump had been elected president. "You mean the guy from The Apprentice?" asked Kim Dong-chul, a 64-year-old South Korean-born U.S. citizen, who had been held the longest. "I thought North Korea had a crazy leader", added Tony Kim, 59, who also goes by Kim Sang-duk.
After conferring for several minutes the three men asked the Secretary of State if it would be possible to turn the plane around and leave them back in nation from which they had just been freed. "It's hard to believe what has happened to our country" said a clearly dejected Kim Hak-song, "have we really been gone that long?". The three decided that it would be better to just "hang out" in North Korea until this Trump thing passed. President Trump derided the trio in a tweet calling them "disgraceful" and "un-American".

(1,896 posts)I was thinking about it and cracking myself up and decided to make it a little formal and share it. Can't you just picture them on the plane saying "who did you say is President-get out of here!"

(34,069 posts)that the men were taken prisoner during Obama's tenure as president (and he is rescuing them). Not a meme I'd want to play into - even in satire.

(34,069 posts)on Obama. So - given the rapid pace at which false news spreads - best not to write satire that plays into that false, blame-everything-on-Obama meme, since I assume that is not a meme you support.
