General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI don't know who, But I really believe Avenatti is in league with persons high on our side
Persons, or groups. Actually, in ways not dissimilar to the Swiftboaters. The DNC, maybe? Tom Stiers? Someone else?
Who pays his expenses? Sure, he could do it himself, but most people doing what he's doing don't.
While this is ostensibly still about Stormy Daniels, it is much, much, much bigger than that.
On the surface, the whole thing is fun to watch and seriously informative, but there really does have to be an even more serious back story.
Any ideas?

(102,236 posts)I don't remember everything he said (should catch the video when it is up), but I know he made the comment about not being paid by some liberal group.... (loosely paraphrased)
He had a big haul last year (one of the highest in California) for a fraud case and I think he said it was around $450million. So, I'm guessing that while this is not pro bono, that he can afford to limit fees.

(51,550 posts)Avenatti's firm set it up to pay for the case. Avenatti said on Rachel tonight that other than a "de minimus" amount from Stormy, all of the money for the litigation has come from their CrowdJustice.org funding page.
So far it has raised only $403,000. Their goal was to get to $850,000 by May 4, 2018. Obviously that didn't happen. I hope more people donate...

(7,725 posts)I understand, this guy has won MANY millions for his clients and thus himself. Believe it or not, this is loss leader(?) to him, imagine the name he's making for himself. He knows the facts and procedure. They're on his side. He's so rich already, this is a working vacation for him i'm sure. Will you ever forget this guy? I won't.

(3,344 posts)I think he realized this case was important, it would bring attention to his law firm and the opponents (Cohen, Trump) are wealthy and stupid.

(3,515 posts)Maybe this is kind of pro bono. It doesn't hurt his business to have a well known name, but I don't think he is cynical about this case. I think he really wants the truth to come out.

I think his agenda is what she wants, and what she wants is to take down the mofo who threatened her. Money and a higher profile is the gravy.

(5,524 posts)The publicity he is getting is well worth the investment. Every minute he is on tv raises his profile and his future asking price
He was already a high profile lawyer, but he is in the stratosphere now!
Not to mention - if this motivates him - he will be in the history books for this!
