Because he wanted it to be secret. Why did he want it to be secret?
Because that is the way he does business.
Why did Donald Trump choose Michael Cohen as his "personal lawyer"?
Because he wanted someone that could do business in secret and keep the law away from his shady deals.
They were experts in diversions and concealment.
They are also very good at delaying and distracting investigators when they get too close to their doors.
This makes it very difficult to track all the illegal activities that Cohen has been involved with.
They are not beyond lies and deception to cover their tracks.
These are not ordinary criminals.
