DU PSA: The "Trump Mother's Day" tweet is a fake. Please don't bother posting it.

I know, I know, I know....

Trump has posted some crazy things on Twitter before that I personally didn't believe was real until it was confirmed that it was.

Things like this:



Or this:



All scarily real, genuine Trump tweets.

However, the media was very quick to pick up on the Taco Bowl tweet and other crazy but true Trump tweets like "Covfefe!"

No legitimate media sources have confirmed Trump ever tweeted bashing Mother's Day because there was no such day for fathers. And the time stamp on the supposed Tweet doesn't look to be the proper format for Twitter.

So I can pretty much confirm that the alleged tweet is a fake, and with that in mind, it doesn't help us to be reposting things on here that are fake--thus killing our credibility in the process--when there is so much outrageously true stuff to be posting about Trump.

7. There's a fine line distinction between satire and fake news/disinformation.

What that distinction is, I'm not exactly sure. I think it's the obscenity deal--you only know it when you see it.

It's not like The Onion or Borowitz was putting this out, or one of our resident DU satirists.

I suppose if it came from one of those sources, there'd be some humor in the content. But if it's just some completely random Twitter page pumping this out without any hint that it's just satire, I'll stick to the experts on it.

And only once the sobering realization where a given tweet is reported as real should one actually take it as real.

Depressing as hell that we would have to do that for a President.
