Every day the MSM drones on about Trump and his mafia and the GOP fucking the US. Impeachment, indictment, trials, jail etc are talked about incessantly. Sure Mueller got some indictments and that is significant certainly. But I won't believe that heads will roll until it has actually happened. The Reagan administration had so many criminals jailed and committed so many huge crimes yet they got away with all of it. And Ollie North who committed felonies and even treason has lived on with not a hair rearranged on his head. The rest of the goons went on living their normal lives. Meanwhile their victims suffered and some even died.
So I am cynical that anything will change. Trump's and the GOP malfeasance and outright criminal behavior piles up by the god damned minute and continues and even increases. Yet nothing is happening to them. A congressman steal literally thousands from voter because he cannot keep his penis in check. Then resigns and gets a cushy job paying him handsomely. He is the worst of many examples of bad actors fucking and literally killing others yet go free.
Look at all the damage Bush did. Look at all the damage banks did. Yet few heads rolled. Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al are now living in blissful retirement. , All was forgiven and the crooks got away all the cash because we could not look back. Obama made mistake by not pushing back. He wanted GOP help but got screwed in the end.
Sure I will catch it here for being cynical and gloomy. But I have been waiting since 1981 to see things go the right way long term. Yet all I see is a large part of the Reagan (sabotage) revolution being completed. Now we have this insane maniac in the White House and the Kochsucking GOP in power. And we have a Christian Nut as VP. I ask how could it get worse. Hundreds of military body bags in Iran?
I have hope for the upcoming elections. But I still wonder if we are to stupid to save ourselves from this (sorry) Nazi regime. Sure we don't have death camps or mass executions like Germany had, but we have mostly secret detention centers for undocumented workers and separated families and children being warehoused and farmed out who a brown. We have a growing atmosphere of harassment of African Americans who are just going about their daily business. They cannot even walk in the park, cut their grass at their own home, shop in the local market with some fucking cracker calling the cops. Sorry I am so graphic but such aberrant behavior just sends you into a rage. THIS SHIT IS NOT AN AMERICA I SPENT A YEAR IN NAM FOR. AND IT IS NO THE KIND OF COUNTRY I WOULD DEFEND ETHER.

(10,602 posts)My cynicism comes from why we are here and how we got here. Trump should have never had even a remote possibility to get past the 1st debate. Jeb Bush would looks like a saint compared to Trump.
My cynicism comes from the damage that is so significant yet goes unrecognized. Believe me the "new" economy is a disaster for the younger generation when they are older or old.
The best way to get a handle on the state of affairs is Thom Hartmann. He says it all a lot better than I could.

Fwiw, I think we're all cynical at times. I wouldn't lead with it, though.
