(463 posts)Did you come up with this?
This needs to be in commercials everywhere. Succinct, hits a tremendously personal emotional beat, and contains an economic message.

(463 posts)I can't send PMs yet or else I'd do it there.
If you don't mind my asking, why Leno for mayor? Or rather, do you have specific problems with Breed?
I dislike Breed, but I can't quite pinpoint why. It just seems like there's a corruption scandal ready to go there, but it's more a sixth sense than concrete evidence.
I'm curious to know what led you to strongly support him.
(I hope this doesn't derail your thread!)

(58,797 posts)His state senate staff helped my wife when she was getting the runaround from the unemployment office several years ago. In addition, we like his experience in Sacramento and on the Board of Supervisors.
Im only voting in the first round. Jane Kim was endorsed by Susan Sarandon and Breed is just a continuation of the Newsom/Lee years.

(463 posts)That's awesome his office did that. My dad, a Vietnam veteran, only got the help he needed after I bombarded his congressman's office with all the shit an impatient dickhead could muster. But, they did do it. So, I know where you're coming from.
But what I'm curious about is "the Newsom/Lee years." What do you feel was the problem there? I have my own very serious problems, too. I'm just wondering where you feel they failed. And if you feel that way about Newsom, are you for him for governor or someone else?
I try not to talk politics with friends, so it's a bit nice to be able to hash out here, if you understand me.

(58,797 posts)Newsom was preoccupied with national and international issues and forgot he was a mayor. Lee was too lenient on AirBnB and others who abused our limited housing.

(463 posts)I think Newsom has always aspired for national office - he knows his charisma and his looks - and he's seeing how high that can take him. And I think Lee bowed to tech. I'm tech, so I can't talk. But, I don't think what my industry is doing is so good for the city.
Did you see that recent piece, I think on KRON, where someone camera-phoned their daily commute through Civic Center? Syringes and passed out heroin addicts lining the walls with feces and vomit everywhere. Yeah, that's everyday here.
When your own tourism director is telling people to not bother, something must register. But it doesn't seem to.
Do you think Leno is the person to change that?

(58,797 posts)but I also want cleaner streets and sidewalks, for support for tenants, nice parks, better traffic control, help for the homeless who are not able to make decisions for themselves and GET RID OF THOSE DAMN SCOOTERS.
You think Leno's our guy?
I just don't think . . . this becomes us. Not from a white middle class perspective. Just, no city should be like this. Something's wrong here.
