General Discussion

But telling the rest of us that such discussions are irrelevant or inappropriate or, of course, divisive, is both patronizing and downright silly. The very fact that every thread that introduces the topic in a reasonable, thoughtful way is full of interesting, dynamic and respectful comments, discussions and back and forth puts a lie to the Oh, not this shit again. Nobodys interested in this whines.
If anyone doesnt like these discussions or they make them uncomfortable, it seems pretty silly to dive into them. Unless one is a masochist or a disruptor, why engage in them? Just ignore them.
But lecturing and hectoring and trolling the rest of us doesnt do any good and is actually the primary cause of the divisiveness folks seem so worried about.

(3,900 posts)You are so predictable and consistent that its laughable.
But I would have thought you would lay low for a bit while you salve that assburn you got yesterday after you tried to troll one particular person of color. Your boneheaded move didnt go the way youd hoped, did it? You got your butt handed to you in comment after comment, enough recs to count on one hand with fingers left over, and then your thread sunk like a stone, while the thread you were trying to mock soared right over your head.
But here are, bright and early, going for it again, whining and whitesplaining as if anyone takes yu seriously.
I cant wait to see what comic relief you have in store for us today.
Jumps in every thread about race to make sure it's always really the victim's fault.

(9,527 posts)Many of the posts on race are little more than reactionary nonsense driven by emotion rather than actual logic.
It's the internet. Unfortunately deep rational philosophical thought isn't common.

Good luck achieving anything like a "dialogue" that way.
You see, you may feel entitled to effectively tell white people to just "sit down and shut up", but like all of the self-respecting, they'll be inclined to disagree. .Just a thought.

(30,481 posts)A lecture on the topic, by the right person, would hold much more value than a simple discussion. Interestingly enough, any good lecture would be followed by discussions among many platforms.
You really couldn't be more wrong in how you see this.
