Unfair! Rudy Giuliani explodes when CNNs Cuomo plays clip of him saying presidents must obey subpoenas
Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani went on an angry tirade against Chris Cuomo on Friday after the CNN host played an old clip of him saying that presidents must comply with subpoenas to testify.
During the CNN interview, Giuliani claimed that back in the 1990s, he simply argued that former President Bill Clinton couldnt ignore subpoenas to hand over documents as part of the Whitewater probe. The former New York mayor then said that he would never have argued that a sitting president must comply with a subpoena asking him to testify.
Cuomo then rolled the clip of Giuliani being interviewed by Charlie Rose in which Rose directly asked him about whether a president must obey a subpoena to testify and Giuliani said he did.
Giuliani at this point began ranting at Cuomo and accused him of being unfair to him simply for playing back arguments he made 20 years ago.

is the expert witness against himself. I hope cheetolini doesn't fire him. I think Rudy has a jump on a second career as a comic entertainer.

I thought New Yorkers were supposed to be sophisticated. How'd they elect this maroon to be mayor?

(56,828 posts)following some high profile prosecutions of Mafia bosses back in the 80s /early 90s. And, following some mediocre Democratic mayors, he took advantage of voters wanting change - I don't think Republicans had even bothered to run more than a token candidate in years before Rudy came along, so he also energized the Republican minority in the city.

Yet the uniformed police present did little to stop them. Why? Because the rioters were nearly all white, off-duty NYPD officers. They were participating in a Patrolmens Benevolent Association demonstration against Mayor David Dinkins call for a Civilian Complaint Review Board and his creation earlier that year of the Mollen Commission, formed to investigate widespread allegations of misconduct within the NYPD.
In the center of the mayhem, standing on top of a car while cursing Mayor Dinkins through a bullhorn, was mayoral candidate Rudy Giuliani.
***
Giuliani won the 1993 election against Dinkins and won re-election in 1997. During his two terms, the NYPD ran roughshod over the civil liberties of all New Yorkers, particularly in neighborhoods where most young men of color grew up under the thumb of constant police harassment. At the heart of Giulianis law enforcement policy, in case after case, was a lack of accountability for police misconduct.
(Yeah, I know: CATO? But the article is on point for the toipc.)

How do "sophisticated" voters vote for that incompetent?

It's a safety issue. We pay to be safe and pay for the biggest military in the galaxy WE do. And to let dt family sell it down the river by being infiltrated from within...is unacceptable.

Of course, my dad is 90 years old, so I disengage and love him anyway.

Anger, yelling, false facts, crazy theories, and the inability to moderate themselves to actually make sense.

(27,811 posts)Chris Cuomo looked pretty pleased with himself, and was uncharacteristically letting others do the talking. (Of course then, he cut to Alyson whatshername who's in England for the Royal Wedding and didn't make a squeak when she said she was going to wear her hat "askance", even though I about jumped out of my chair, but I digress).

(33,343 posts)He's taking pressure off Trump to respond personally (still hiding from the legitimate press), and accomplishing his main task: dissembling about Mueller's probe. It doesn't matter if he's laughed at; he's there to waste the media's time and draw the ire of Liberals.
Judy Ruliani isn't a lawyer, he's just another GOP Gish Gallop.
It's a TECHNIQUE, and the GOP has honed it over the last 40 years. It works.

(14,490 posts)Just one part of a chaos factory that keeps everyone's head spinning 24/7. It's a wonder many Americans these days can even remember their duties from day to day, much less sort out the daily mass of bullshit coming from this White House and Congress.
I agree with you that this had been done methodically by an evil sector of the world's populace - almost entirely people of extreme wealth such as Rupert Murdoch that believe they deserve to rule the Earth, no matter what the cost to us.
The primary components of this machine however remain unseen and unknown to the public: organizations such as Heritage Foundation, AEI, and ALEX that churn out massive amounts of hard-right dogma every single day. All the non-stop fluff coming out of Trump's non-stop fluff is just opium for the masses to accumulate votes.
We should crown Donald Trump king - King of Chaos and Flim-Flam.

(33,343 posts)He doesn't really think landslides are raising sea levels. He's dumb, but not THAT dumb.
It's a red herring, and he probably got it as a talking point from some loathsome oil-industry lobbyist that morning. Get the libtards tut-tutting and shaming trump voters with their big-brain judgment. They'll cling harder to their guns and religion (and Trump).
We've got to figure a way out of the truth-is-irrelevant box they've built.
