(38,958 posts)one wonders just what was the reasoning by the gentleman to drive his tractor over those vehicles. One suspects he may have been a bit ill tempered and out of sorts, but why was that the case?

(39,313 posts)good old boys and flatlanders who are usually NY retired stockbroker type transplants.
They run small businesses like Yak farms and specialty cheese distribution ($$).
This guy was in category 1 but his product was no doubt consumed by category 2.
I've seen the good old boys having fun mildly terrorizing the Prius drivers there.
Bernie represents them all!

(114,904 posts)No, most flatlanders are certainly not retired stockbroker types. I'll wager anything that far more of us flatlanders are back to the earth hippie types than ex-stockbrokers.

(39,313 posts)my family lives there and I used to live there -- and agree about the earth hippie thing as I was basically in that category while at the same time being a descendant of Vermonters -- but on my last trip it was different. There were a lot of slick ex-New Yorkers around and all these businesses have sprouted up to appeal to a monied set. Burlinton is a quick, cheapish plane ride from JFK. Some people have houses for summer only, I don't remember that being so big before.
It feels like it's become a luxurious kind of getaway, I do exaggerate to make a point but something has changed.
Plus, there were a lot more luxury cars on the road, and way fewer beaters.
