The truth is the truth and the M$M journalists and hosts should be guided by it.
Instead we are getting, "Was the Trump campaign spied on or was this a legitimate informant".
Giving equal validity to a lie is what they do and I am fucking sick of it.

(8,048 posts)Did Trump pay for abortions for any of his many mistresses?
Even though there's much more credence to this claim than to his "spied on" lie.

(17,303 posts)"Both sides" seems to have become an ideal of the past. It was, and still is, something to strive for. Like anything else, it can be done well, or poorly (as a veiled attempt to skew the message).

(7,725 posts)Your angle is spot on and it's a nuanced observtion, that I'm glad you could articulate. The second part of it for me was...
2. Working through both ideas and giving a defense to the one that's "wrong." By just having people debate the issues in question. We are Liberals and are vastly more intelligent and fair as a group. The right gets the benefit of our brain trust by just listening to these people then debating the pros and cons etc. Very troubling.
So glad you saw that.

(4,483 posts)but no one should assume that every side is as valid as any other. Pursuing "fairness" by granting equal attention to opposing views, even if the other side is ludicrous and clearly not true, is not and never has been a goal of good journalism.
It is not coincidental that "Fair and Balanced" is the motto of the least truthful media outlet in the country. "Fair and Balanced" makes it easy to hide, or ignore, the truth.
