yesterday's appearance on Nicole Wallace's show. Nicole couldn't suppress her laughter. Neither could I.

"The rigor that this issue was approached with was the same that he would approach mediating a fight between Gary Busey, Little John and Meatloaf on 'The Apprentice'. There's no strategy here"

(7,968 posts)I have to admit I like both of these folks.
At least, though I suspect I differ ideologically with both, they are sane and see the Trump thing for what it is.

(22,065 posts)Imagine that McCain had won the presidency in 2008, (let's ignore the Palin issue for the moment). It was likely that Mr. Schmidt would have become McCain's Chief of Staff. In that position, he would have probably done an excellent job for his president and although it would have been a Republican administration, it would have been traditional and "normal."
In other words, the complete opposite of Trump.
Mr. Schmidt and Nicole Wallace have made tremendous efforts of atonement for their Palin debacle. I respect their knowledgable commentary on our current events but I suspect that on many issues we would not see eye-to-eye.

(31 posts)First you tell the world that he is afraid of you, then you say you are going to make a sucker out him. Next you let everyone know that you really want to get a Noble prize out of it and finally you make a bizarre statement we promise that we wont assassinate you in Singapore. This guy is the worlds worst negotiator.

You made an excellent point, I think, and welcome to DU!

(7,142 posts)has the best cable news show, bar none. She doesn't fool around, gets to the point, talks turkey, and most importantly, her guests are top notch, not people who make stuff up that time is wasted on rebuffing.
I try not to miss her show, msnbc should give her Tweety's time slot.

Okay, probably not, but any "dumbest" list without Louie's name on it just doesn't look right.

(6,256 posts)He was one of a multitude of candidates running to take on Joe Manchin. He barely beat Don Blankenship, the coal baron who served a year in jail for the deaths of 29 miners in one of his badly maintained coal mines. Jenkins didn't get the nomination; that went to the Attorney General who's wife lobbies for one of the big drug firms that dumped millions of opioid pills in West Virginia.
I think Joe's going to win. I hope Joe's going to win!

(8,138 posts)People here could nominate the Stupidest Congressperson from their own state and make the case for why that person was the stupidest. Then we could have like a bracket, and members could vote. We would have an epic Final Four and then a titanic final between the two stupidest members of congress, finally crowning a winner. Maybe we could crowd fund a prize and send it to them. Like a 55 gallon drum of horseshit or something. And all DU members from that state get free stars here for a year as a token of our sympathy.
