The Grand Distraction

We can only imagine the degree of concern at the FBI and our Intelligence agencies when Donald Trump was nominated for President of the United States. They knew there were Russian connections. They knew about Carter Page since 2013. They knew of the Russian money-laundering. They knew about Donald Trump's associations with shady oligarchs.

But then, it took on a more urgent meaning. They had to investigate an international crime syndicate that had infiltrated the American political system but they thought they had time because Hillary Clinton was going to be elected President. Everybody thought so.

However, they did not have time. Trump was installed as the new President and the FBI and all the Intelligence agencies were stuck with the information that they already knew about Donald Trump and his associates.

Trump and the Russians wasted little time in consolidating their coup. General Flynn was appointed the National Security Advisor and generals were put in important positions all across the Trump Administration, including Homeland Security and the Defense Department. Because generals tend to take orders from their Commander in Chief.

When General Flynn was caught lying about his phone calls and associations with the Russians, he was fired. Not long thereafter, the FBI Director was also fired. There was a call for a Special Counsel to investigate the Russians and anyone in the Trump circle that may have been involved in attacking our electoral process. Robert Mueller was appointed to investigate. So began the great distraction.

Somewhere the facts about the attack on our election, and the role of the Russians in the attack, became secondary to distractions, such as "spies" in the Trump campaign and Hillary's emails and the "deep state", etc. It was as if someone dragged the drowned body from the lake and the debate became about what clothes he was wearing and where did he buy them? The important story was lost to the distractions.

That is where we are today, it seems? The distractions and the lies are taking over for the facts and the important information that we need to survive as Americans. From every angle, there is a distraction. Anything to keep from discussing what is real and what is necessary for people to know. Confusion is the word of the day.

Governor Howard Dean made a similar point yesterday.

How can anyone prosecute an entire political Party except at the polls?

The shiny object du jour is intended to divert the public's attention from the ongoing abuse of power and obstruction. The whole 'Spygate' affair is a case in point. It's been leaked that the Trumpster chose the word 'spy' and the phrase 'Spygate' as a way to brand the issue for maximum impact with the media and American public.

We're being played every day with a grand disinformation campaign, lured down rabbit hole after rabbit hole while the Trumpster and his enablers dismantle the country. Is anyone talking about the despicable immigration abuses, nearly 1500 immigrant children lost in the system, some feared turned over to traffickers? Or the Trumpster bending to China on its cellphone company, going against Congressional advice and security protocols because of a proposed real estate deal, another Trump fantasy/vanityland project? Or the Executive Order to weaken civil servant' employment protections?

The list goes on and on. As do the distractions. The behavior is unAmerican, traitorous and inching the country to the edge of the abyss. Which is purposeful.

It's why defending the Rule of Law is mandatory, even in an unlawful atmosphere. And then voting these bastards out in November, voting in numbers so massive, so overwhelming that there can be no mistake in interpreting the message:

This will not stand on our watch. This will not stand and we will come after you.
