Then fires the same person for making a racist tweet.
What an amazing social conscious they have. Just looking out for values. Great job ABC.

(115,692 posts)The wrong thing they did in the first place was resurrect her old show. She's been a racist loudmouth for years.

(30,481 posts)They didn't do the right thing. At all. This was expected and part of a clear historical trend.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,692 posts)They did the right thing by canceling her show. Two different things, a wrong one and a right one. Not doing the first (wrong) thing wouldn't have made the second (right) thing necessary.

(4,461 posts)... they are giving up much. The reboot attracted a lot of viewers for many reasons - liberals wanting to see the circus, some old devotees, some just wanting to see what the fuss was about. But thats not a sustainable viewership. The deplorable demographic alone isnt enough. And she was a lightening rod for bad publicity and embarrassment. Good to see ABC make the right decision, but this is not a lot of skin off their nose IMO.

(6,399 posts)That said, the vast majority (almost all besides this?) of ABC's programming is definitely more socially conscious. It's like this was the 0.01% compared to the other 99.99%. But that tiny little percent, which made them a shit load of money, tainted everything.
Just like Trump.

Attempting to profit from the racist out there by normalizing them is never a good long term PR move.
