Question for New Yorkers

I am New Yorker residing in the South now for last 11 years. Something I've been curious about. I know Drump is a narcissist. We don't know if Cohen is going to rat him out, or what is going to be exposed in the documents found in the Cohen raids. But to my point, when I lived in NY, there were always rumors of Drump's misdeeds. I've often wondered why he's had the audacity to run for president, not thinking people would scrutinize his shady past.

I always heard rumors of him having mob ties and doing illegal things when I lived in NY, back in the day when mob figures were a thing in NY. So aside from him being a racist imbecile, it was known that he was a shady character. It boggled my mind that he was allowed to ascend to the top of the republican ticket knowing that.

I know the national media was not focusing on his shady past, just wondering if the local media in NY did. Did the NY media bring up any of his connections to the mob when he was campaigning?
I kept saying to myself, how is it that we have a presidential nominee that has connections to the mob. Unreal.

Not much in the newspapers, if any, but a few of the magazines, ie "New Yorker" and "New York" both did, on several occasions if I recall. Unfortunately, magazines like those tend to be preaching to the choir.

I couldn't find any actual articles about his ties to the mob, but there was always talk about it. I can remember hearing stuff on the news about it. But of course, he would deny everything when questioned. However, I did find an article in Politico magazine that talks about his NYC mob ties. Interesting read I may say. Here is the link....

He has been sounding the Alarm on Drump for a long time.
Drump was able to get away with a lot of his crap in NY for a long time. So much corruption in NY allowed him to not pay the price. I think thats why he thought he could go to DC and do the same.

I hear his tough talk about MS13 and calling them animals and I'm thinking wait a minute, you are lying hypocrite. You did business with the Italian mob. What's the difference? If MS13 gang members are animals then so are the Genovese, Colombo, Gambino crime families. and all the others. Remember Sammy the Bull said he alone was responsible for killing 19 people - is he an animal? I think the Russians have taken over where the Italians have left off. Not really sure, since I've left NY - but looks like Cohen is involved in a lot of Shady dealings with Russian Mafia figures.

Too bad no one spent any time really digging into his background - I know his rhetoric speaks to them. But I just wonder how the Christian Right would feel about his shady activities and mob connections - They've looked past his infidelities, would they have looked past his criminal activities too? Funny he has this harsh rhetoric for criminals now when they had his full support back then. And to think they gave Barack hell for smoking a joint in his youth.

Good investgative jounalists (Vanity Fair, for example) were on Don the Con for 30+ years. New Yorkers were on to his show as well. Nobody could believe the Repugnant party could be so profoundly stupid.

remember is that almost everyone I knew when I lived there is that he was a card carrying asshole. Nobody could stand him. He was a joke. He thought he was so high-class and debonair, but people just laughed at him. He was never taken seriously by anybody except for low-life mobster wannabees.

All those ridiculous Post covers, his shitty casinos always needing to be bailed out. Anyone in the NY area- AC included- that's over 40 and paid attention all those years knows what an inept clown he's always been.

I've had the same questions. Being in the casino business he had to have some connection to the mob. I figured there must have been plenty of people in NY banks and media and city hall and wherever who knew Drumpf was corrupt as hell. I, too, was surprised there wasn't more investigation during the primaries.

Also, when did The Ghoul turn to the dark side? I thought he had a big reputation for busting the mob in NY. And now he's doing all he can to obstruct justice for a probable mobster? Or was his reputation a lot of media hype? Why didn't he bust Drumpf when he had the chance? Was he on the Drumpf payroll back then as he is now?
