So . . . . Jeff Sessions . . . . ?

Some thoughts:

Sessions is protecting Mueller. As long as he is there and recused, Mueller has at least a degree of protection.

Sessions is a product of the US Senate. Blood brother. If Trump fucks with him too much, the Senate gets pissed off and impeachment conviction becomes more likely.

Sessions is possibly possessed of new religion based on conversations with Mueller. It is the religion of "Hold The Fort". Don't quit. Cock block Trump. Seems maybe Jeff and Bob are tight. Maybe.

Ol' J. Beauregard might even be a bigger get than Flynn. Sealed indictment with his name on it? Keys to the Kingdom for Mueller to use? The "true dat" from start to finish of the campaign, the transition, and on to the very recent past. J-Beau was always in the room, wasn't he, now?

Has the flip happened?

I'm thinking it could have. Not saying it has, but it sure could have.

have told Trump, you fire Session's and will will never allow the appointment of another Attorney General.

This was mentioned on Tom Hartmman a couple of days ago. Believe someone said the same on MSNBC.

he automatically becomes a witness against trump.

Remember Sessions has lied under oath and has had to *update* his forms a few times. He kept forgetting his Russian meetings.

If Trump does fire his ass, he may have to flip to keep self-same ass out of jail.

Hell, Ollie North is head of the NRA while he should be rotting in prison still. He gets a slap on the wrist and gets paid by the Koch brothers until he can rise from the ashes as a hero. That's what happens to GOP traitors.

Why we EVER let the GOP tell us they cared about character is beyond me.

He got nothing. The Appeals court threw out the convictions due to improper prosecution conduct.

6. I Doubt Mueller Would Have Secret Indictments of a Sitting Attorney General ...

that smells like coercion of a public official. Now I wouldn't doubt that Mueller has some leverage over Session to be a cooperating witness but to leave a corrupted, secretly indicted public official in office could come back and kick the investigation in the ass and breads conspiracy arguments

He gave up his safe Senate seat. If he leaves now, he can’t land a high-paying lobbying/government affairs job - no one will hire him because he’ll have no clout with the administration and any firm that did hire him would likely get blackballed by his vindictive former boss. He could become a partner in an Alabama law firm, but that’s a real step down from being the senior Senator and AG. He could do a Comey and write a book but that would be a short-term thing.

He’s kind of stuck.

His senate seat is as safe as could be and his ace in the hole. Alabama’s favorite son is coming home.

Easily. 70-30. Jones received no more votes than should be expected from a Democrat in a statewide election in Alabama. Outside of who he was able to get to the polls his numbers weren’t impressive. Sessions has regularly gotten twice as many people to the polls in Alabama. The numbers are that dramatic in difference.

Recusal was the right move. Sessions ideology sucks. His thoughts on society sucks. He still simply did the right thing.

Sessions has zero to worry about. He is going to win his next election against Jones 70-30. Alabama’s favorite son will be coming home to end his career to great fanfare. Sessions is currently just trying not to fuck up and stay stable while being surrounded by stormy waters.

I don’t think it’s any more lofty than that.

Time will tell.
