Controversial Dinesh D'Souza tweets resurface after Trump announces pardon

Twitter users reacted to President Trump's announcement of a pardon for conservative activist Dinesh D'Souza on Thursday by resurfacing old tweets made by the convicted author, some of which his critics have called racist.

-snip-

Both journalists and others chimed in with criticism of D'Souza, accusing him of posting racist messages and attacking school shooting survivors.

D'Souza in the past promoted the false "birther" conspiracy that former President Obama was born outside of the United States and ineligible for the White House.

"The Big Bang Theory" executive producer Bill Prady joined in the criticism, posting a tweet D'Souza made about Obama in which the writer says Americans are "cowering in embarrassment" of the president.

In another controversial tweet, posted by Everytown for Gun Safety founder Shannon Watts, D'Souza referred to former President Obama as a "grown-up Trayvon," referring to the black teenager Trayvon Martin who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman.

break the law to help me and our cause, and I will pardon you.

The law is meaningless if you are a trumper.

media won't call it like it is, always looking for the horse race angle, so Trump wins again

Trump's 10-step process for turning a lie into a "truth"
1. Trump lies, media reports verbatim
2. Media dutifully reports factual errors and discrepancies, expert analysts note that his claims are false
3. Trump blasts experts and calls the media dishonest
4. Trump repeats the lie frequently and publicly, along with the temporarily unverifiable and meaningless message that "many people think I'm right"
5. Media begins to refer to the lie as a "disputed fact"
6. Trump repeats the lie as do his surrogates in various right-wing echo chambers and internet forums
7. Main-stream media reports the lie as a "controversy"
8. Polls show more Americans now believe Trump's lie to be true, with far more Republicans believing it than Democrats
9. Media reports the lie as reflecting a "partisan divide" in America, and many believe it to be true (thus affirming Trump's assertion from step 4)
10. The public becomes confused and disoriented about what the facts are, and Trump "wins"

I venture he would not be treated well by the white supremacists he befriends

In fact they might regard him as a member of an "inferior race"
