The question is in all of this is who benefits from what Trump is doing?
Quite Clearly, the Chinese and the Russians, Trump is acting against the interests of the country and wants his own piece of it, hence his comment of "I see NK's beautiful beaches and many condos in its future"...Seriously, is this all a business deal for Trump to make money?
He wants to cancel the Wargames in SK and removes troops while rambling on nonsensically for 65 minutes uteering rubbish after rubbish.
Who benefits from that, The Chinese and the Russians would have a major force of power removed from the region. This will have state dept and intel community spinning.
Trump handed a huge PR win for Kim. He has escalated a murdering psychopath that enslaves his own people on the world stage as a legitimate leader. This is beyond disgusting. He calls him honorable above our allies.
He took another side swipe at Trudeau in the same breath and sold the South Koreans down the river.
The document itself is flimsy and has no bones to it, its bullshit, its ,lets talk about talks about talks and has been done before.
Trump then admitted if nothing happens in 6 months, he wont admit he was wrong and will lie about the reasons. Yes, he actually said that.
Kim got everything, Trump gave away the store, the language used in the document is the North Korean language for denuclearisation.
We were right, this was set up by Trump's owners, the Russians and the chinese.
Kim gets to keep his nukes, he gets the americans out of SK, he gets elevated to the world stage.
This is nothing short of a sham and a clusterfuck and Trump has led this world into disarray.
China will be happy with this summit
Russia will be estatic
Our Allies are dismayed.
That alone tells me everything I need to know as to what happened here.
He frankly needs arresting for Treason and put the security of the US under threat.

Sad.

(6,230 posts)Nixon went to China, but he was still a crook. trump went to N Korea, but he is still a crook. It's been shown that voters do not base their votes on foreign policy. They vote domestic issues. Let's hope that holds true in November.

(14,494 posts)will not allow it. I suspect they will fight hard to limit any Westernization of NK.
Further, watered-down American presence in SK aids theirs and Russia's power in the waterways around Japan. I also don't believe Kim will really give up his nukes - he will just hide them.

(14,494 posts)He was probably brought along to be the pit bull. And I heard rumors they brought Hannity along as a friendly face for Russian news coverage.
IMO, we can bet Bolton has a very sinister Plan "B" in mind for when Kim fails to allow full nuclear inspections, etc....

(32,706 posts)... maybe he thinks Trump will give him $US foreign aid? I don't know but it sure seems possible.
Just think how many prisons he could build with Trump-dollars.

(6,925 posts)The treasonous Trump supporters. It affirms their alignment with another ruthless dictator. The GOP is a fraud, they kiss-ass to Putin, Kim Jong, Erdagon, Duerete and oppose our allies.
Now they have a worldwide coalition of dangerous idiots.

(11,885 posts)Trump gave Kim everything , and is now wanting to remove all troops in SK, and let him do as he pleases in exchange for business deals to build another tower , and to produce at a much cheaper costs of products he and his daughter manufactures, or basically for him and his family to profit from. That's what this is probably all about, himself , not anything good for our country, or SK or Japan.

(4,407 posts)To fight Trump we must understand Trump. He is not bogged down by objective facts, but exists in a mindset of subjective reality -- the world of the con (most pure salesmen are con men to some degree). The actual effect of the Summit with NK is unimportant to him as long as it isn't so objectively bad that he can't simply sell it as good.
By way of example, look ar the ACA (labled by the right as "Obamacare" ). Millions who did not have coverage got affordable coverage but that didn't matter. He called it horrible and pointed to existing deficiencies (perceived as much as real) and repeatedly sold it as terrible. He then further sold that idea of it as a bad thing, by promising a better system without offering details or acknowledging the complexity of the situation. Many Americans bought into this false subjectivism and his arrogant claim that only he could see through the difficulties and fix it, The average MAGAt doesn't have the attention span to see the actual result of dropping the mandate or not funding the subsidies.
He will do the same with NK. No matter what really happens with denuclearization, he will endlessly tweet about the progress he made that no other President could make. In fact, he has aleeady started doing that. If he convinced Kim to stop testing, but lets him keep building nukes, he will tweet endlessly how the testing has stopped. At the very least, he will tweet about his great progress in meeting with a difficult NK leader that no other President could (when in reality it was "would" ) meet with. If the talks go nowhere from here or end badly, he will simply attack Kim and blame his predecessors as having been weak. Trump is convinced he can sell this as a win and unless resistance becomes more effective in demonstrating it is not, I'm not convinced he can't.
He is a master of repackaging reality into falsehoods and we have not found a sufficiently effective way to fight it.

(5,327 posts)I think he's setting himself up for the time-tested Republican "don't change horses in mid-stream" argument that won G.W. Bush his second term. If we're in lots of trouble then even though it's all his fault, voters will figure we're stuck with him.
With the caveat that "bitch" in this context alludes to a prison term meaning submissive cellmate, and has nothing to do with women, I'd say Trump is Putin's Little Bitch.
