2. Can't blame anyone for staying in Singapore

I stayed there for a week a couple of years ago, and can't wait to go back. Fabulous place, zero drug addicts, no street crime, fabulous FOOD, ultra modern infra-structure, the best underground hi-way system I have ever seen (after visiting 36 countries), the airport has 50 computers for free use by passengers with free internet access, and if you get sick they have the best hospitals.

And everyone speaks English!!!

Singapore has no drug addicted sex workers. They have mandatory death sentence for drug dealers.

7. Singapore's sex trade: licensed brothels, 'sugar babies', and laws you can run rings around

Prostitutes licensed to brothels in official red-light areas, while freelancers ply the streets and others work under cover of escort agencies or are pimped by vice rings – all in breach of laws: it’s a set-up ripe for exploitation, some say

http://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/article/2120339/singapores-sex-trade-licensed-brothels-sugar-babies-and-laws-you-can-run

Most nights, Lisa Jaafar heads to the Singapore red-light district of Geylang, and stands in the streets waiting for men to buy her services – S$50 (US$37) for 30 minutes of her time. Five years ago, when business was brisk, she could earn more than S$200 in about five hours, then head home to her two children.

Working a five-day week, she would make about S$4,000 a month, tax free. But now, she says, there are fewer clients on the streets. It’s probably not a reflection of city state’s economic performance, however. The signs are that the sex industry in clean, green Singapore – where prostitution is legal – is as vibrant as ever. That’s despite the fact most activities associated with the world’s oldest profession are outlawed.

“Owning a brothel, pimping, online advertising of sex work, recruiting a woman, all are illegal,” says Vanessa Ho, director of sex worker advocacy group Project X. Soliciting prostitution in public places is also illegal in the Lion City.

That doesn’t stop such activities from taking place. Freelancers like Jaafar solicit on the streets, advertise their services online, and work under the cover of escort agencies. Then there’s Orchard Towers, in the middle of Singapore’s busy shopping district, housing bars and clubs frequented largely by Western visitors and sex workers. The entertainment complex is cheekily known as the “Four Floors of Whores”.

9. Law breakers will be there where there are laws

But why go to Singapore for $37/30 minute sex service, when in Thailand it is 10 times cheaper, and 100 times more prevalent.

Heck prostitution is illegal in United States, yet there are prostitutes right hear in every city of the US. And in Nevada prostitution is legal in some county. Ever heard of the Mustang Ranch?

10. If you spent any time in the Geylang district, you'd know prostitution is prevalent

Geylang is a great place to spend the evening, but there are plenty of obvious things going on there.

And then there is the world famous “four floors of whores” at Orchard Tower.

There are also plenty hanging out at even the touristy places like Clarke Quay.

These things were obvious without any underground knowledge of Singapore.

because I am strictly monogamous. It is fool hardy to indulge in sex with strangers with today's STD's.

13. One doesn't need to indulge to notice what is going on around you

Clarke Quay is probably one of the most commonly visited restaurant and nightclub areas. Geylang was featured by Anthony Bourdain. If you have ordinary street awareness, some of the things going on in those places are difficult not to notice.

Where DID you go? Because there is plenty of prostitution going on all over Singapore.

It is not a crime there, incidentally. So I don’t get your bit about drug addicted prostitutes.

visiting restaurants, visiting Golden Gardens, taking in ocean cruise from the cruise terminal, watching a cricket match (I grew up with cricket, and am severely deprived in United States of that sport), taking in bus tours of the city, shopping, etc. I never saw any street prostitutes, and was never mugged while walking streets at late evening hours. But like I said, the restaurants are always my main objective, and Singapore has fabulous Indian & Chinese food. If there were prostitutes in the restaurants, none accosted me, so how would I know if they were present?
