(10,749 posts)Kelly, Mattis, et al: Please let us know how you feel about your commander in chief saluting a North Korean general.
Much has been written about presidents, especially after President Obama was accused of either not saluting or saluting with disrespect (he had a cup of coffee in his hand). The gist is that it's not really required for presidents to return salutes, but they do. As for salutes from foreign military, returning a salute is a sign of respect. I'd appreciate it if Kelly and Mattis could explain how their commander in chief could show respect to a general of a despotic regime that has imprisoned hundreds of thousands of its citizens in concentration camps and gulags, has murdered dissidents, and has impoverished and killed its own citizens over a family reign of more than 60 years.
You are the WH chief of staff and the secretary of defense. You owe the American people that much.

(3,299 posts)such as the deaths of hundreds of thousands in ongoing foreign military adventures. The US has millions in prisons and jails and has had and does have torture advocates in public office.
