Obama camp: Romney's Ohio voting claim 'shameful'

By REID J. EPSTEIN |

Mitt Romney sparked a Saturday tit-for-tat by claiming, without pointing to any evidence, that President Obama's campaign is trying to restrict military voting in Ohio.

Obama’s campaign responded, ripping Romney for "completely fabricating" a claim it called “shameful.”

At issue: A lawsuit the Obama campaign filed July 17 that seeks to restore three days of early voting for all of the state's voters. At no point does the lawsuit attempt to curb the rights of active military.

Instead, the federal suit tries to restore three days of early voting for all citizens that Ohio GOP-led state legislature eliminated in 2011. The state law ended early voting on the Friday before Election Day, though federal law allows members of the military to vote until the Monday before Election Day.

Romney's spokesman, Ryan Williams, in an interview Saturday could point to no place in Obama’s lawsuit that seeks to restrict the rights of military voters. Romney, Williams said, takes offense at Obama’s legal argument that the Ohio law unfairly creates two classes of voters, military and civilian, in violation of the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause.

I hope the Obama campaign can turn it around and, once again, expose Romney as a liar.

It's sad that it seems to be spreading, but if this is all they got this far from election day, then they have nothing!

I advise all to refer to the 2010 IAVA report card [link:http://www.veteranreportcard.org| wherein you'll see that of the 156 'D' or worse grades, 151 went to Republicans, while of the 94 'A' or better, 91 went to Democrats.

Meanwhile, the Army Times criticized the Bush admin and GOP controlled Congress for its very cruel actions against the troops including cutting 1.5 billion from military housing, assistance to family members at home, and combat pay [link:http://www.bit.ly/KZy6sC|

Then there was Rumsfeld, who not only used an auto pen to sign letters of condolence to families of thsoe who gave their lives BUT who could also not figure out how to armor a couple of thousand vehicles in 2.5 years [link:http://usat.ly/MgNk1s| Either Donald was utterly incompetent or our manufacturing had grown weak to the point of futility - since he claimed it was not an easy feat to accomplish.
