Samuel L. Jackson Under Fire For Alleged Homophobic Tweet

Last edited Sat Jun 16, 2018, 09:26 PM - Edit history (1)

Tough-talking actor Samuel L. Jackson wished President Donald Trump a happy birthday on Friday, but the Twitterverse took exception to the perceived anti-gay slurs in the message and laid their vengeance upon him.

Jackson’s tweet: “Must have been a party at The White House, Mitch, Paul, Rudy & others were spotted wearing knee pads & carrying these lined up outside. Happy Birthday.”

The tweet included an image of a product called “After Dick Mints” with the tagline “Going down?”

One Twitter user asked, “Did you and Joy Reid get hacked by the same person?” The reference is to the MSNBC host who had several homophobic posts on her blog, but claimed she was hacked.

I get a chuckle out of it but I can understand why some might find his comments offensive.

The point I'm trying to make is the person who criticized Jackson for making homophobic tweets immediately compared him to another prominent black person who made homophobic tweets when prominent people of all colors have been caught engaging in homophobic behavior, including making homophobic tweets.

So there is a nexus between Joy Reid and every prominent person who makes a homophobic tweet or just a nexus between Joy Reid and every person of color who makes a homophobic tweet ?

It's important for me to get it sorted out.

But, in the grand scheme of things, it is not as offensive as many homophobic things GLB face. Still, I wish this type of casual homophobia would disappear and not get used or dismissed out of hand.

I know many gay people, but I've only managed to get in contact with one tonight. I asked him about Jackson's tweet, and he laughed and said pretty soon liberals/left-leaning people won't be able to say much of anything, because it'll be turned around, twisted and then used against them by MAGAts, who are trying to silence them. He said, he guesses that the only people who'll be able to speak are right-wingers, Klaners, White Nationalists, tRump et al.

Not gonna mention what this same friend said tRump's doing to putin, because my post will probably be removed or hidden.

Saying that Trump sucks Putin's dick doesn't make a lot of sense as a criticism unless sucking dick is something to be condemned or ashamed of.

The method of sexually pleasuring him seems pretty important in this scenario. People don't insult trump by saying, for instance, that he's fingering Putin, though that would also be providing sexual pleasure. Rather, the insult pretty clearly relies on a (homophobic/misogynistic) cultural connotation that there is something demeaning about the act of putting a dick in one's mouth.

Sometimes, homophobia is A-OK. See, if it is used to attack right-wingers, then it gets a pass. If certain people use it, then it is also OK.

As soon as I saw this thread, I knew exactly the types of comments I would see, including those who defend this type of shit. It simply reminds me that as a gay man, I am not as important as others and my life and rights are expendable.

knowing how reliably it can turn some corners of the left into a circular firing squad.

The implication here is that people are lining up to please Trump to an extreme degree. That metaphor has been around a LONG time.

Guessing that it if he'd just accused them of having their heads so far up Trump's ass they could see what he had for dinner would have been less of a firestorm no matter the gender of the accused?

Hopefully people won't be suckered into all these distractions the MAGAts would love to generate to take heat off of Trump.

The latest joint album release by Beyonce and Jay-Z probably got them fired up anew.

And it supports my thought that a MAGAt brought up Joy Reid to stir up more shit.
