I suspect Trump would pardon himself, Flynn, Manafort , Gates, his whole crime family, et al if he wasn't concerned Christopher Wray and Don McGahn would immediately resign. If he does and they resign we are on our way to being a banana republic.

I think 45 doesn't give a damn about any consequences of his actions RainCaster Jun 2018 #1
No resignation is stopping him; it's whether it would push Republican senators into voting muriel_volestrangler Jun 2018 #2

He never has, why should he start now? Look at all his bankruptcies - and how he stiffs his creditors - he has NEVER cared about anyone but himself.

for his impeachment (I think he may get a Democratic majority in the House in the election, so the thing he needs to stop is the Senate vote. Unless something amazing happens in the Senate elections, at least 15 Republicans will have to vote to impeach him.

I think what he's weighing up is who he needs to promise a pardon to to protect himself (convictions of anyone else doesn't matter, with the possible exception of his children). Anyone who won't have evidence against Trump, as oppose to his campaign, can be thrown under the bus - and the fewer pardons he has to hand out, the less likely Republicans are to vote to impeach him, to save their own skins.
